2012 Cabin Air Filter... Where is it?

Can anyone tell me where the cabin air filter is located? I dropped the glove box door down as I have done on my other cars but could not find anything back there that looked like the air filter housing. I gave a '12 GT Vert with manual A/C. Of course I checked the owners manual. The manual provides the filter number, but no information about how to change it. Help please!

You all inspired me to do this! Stopped by Advance Auto parts, picked up a generic-brand filter for $10.99 and popped out the two plastic pin thingies. Easy install. The old one (3 yrs) was so nasty didn't even want to touch it... at that price this will be a yearly thing.

FWIW, we did a comparo of the generic next to a Puralator ($26.99)... same element, even the marking were the same!

Did you interior vents smell when blowing air with the A/C off? Mine have a mildew smell when the A/C is off and it's quite embarrassing for an 8k mile car that has been garaged all its life. Hoping maybe changing the filter might help.

what a coincidence. after 5 years, I had the original one in still and had the replacement cabin filter for 3 months in my garage, waiting to be put in.

Over the weekend, changed the filter (boy was it dirty) and while I was at it, repainted the plastic cowl cover (sun faded), replaced the wiper blades (funny doing it with the wiper arms off the car). and cleaned the CAI filter.

Yes it did - my wife bought me a pair of these little air-purifier things that clip onto your vents. Made by Febreze; one flavor available is actually called "New Car Smell!" BTW they are very effective...

Hoping the new filter helps, initial impression is that it already is.

Done mine 3x and figured out any more than 20K is too much. It was filthy the time I let it go to about 30.

It will be completely blocked by 50K. There might been be small trees growing out of it by then.

Hey Reaper do you have a part number or link for the charcoal filter from Rock Auto?
Many thanks if you do.

K&N makes washable cabin air filters for the 12s now. I pull mine every oil change and give it a rinse.

FYI, last week while changing the oil, I pulled the cabin filter and it looked almost brand new. Took a big wiff of it, and it didn't have a smell. So the mildew smell is likely not coming from the filter you guys unless it's REALLY dirty. So I removed the filter and sprayed a bunch of Lysol inside the intake while the fan was on low speed. I also heavily sprayed the filter with lysol. I seemed to help. The vents smell a lot better. Although on Sunday when I started it up and blew unconditioned air, it had a faint smell of mildew. So we'll see how long this Lysol thing works. I'll spray it again this week. Even on the can it says it may take multiple applications to kill mildew.
