2012-2013 Boss 302 Worth Buying?

Hello. Since the darn second gen Boss 302 had come out, I have wanted one. Not so sure now. The darn Getrag T-82 trans sounds like a bad trans. I was thinking of going with a 6th. gen Camaro V6 1LE. What do you guys think?

Love my 302 Coyote with the MT82 transmission, but the Boss is definitely a step up. That Roadrunner 302 is very hard to beat if on a track. The engine is built for track with forged internals and extra cooling. It is not a drag car, but from all reports is a very solid car that is loved by its owners. Even with a solid rear axle. The MT82 does have its quirks, and there are bad ones out there. Most of them have been around long enough that if the car does not have a history of issues and repairs, it is probably one of the many good MT82s out there.

Unless you have the bank to go with a GT350, an S550 PP car, or a new Mach 1 I don't think you will find a better track car in a Mustang. A V6 Camaro is not the answer.

agreed, I think the Boss would make a much better road track car than a V6 Camaro; though the later V8 Camaros can definitely give the Boss a good run for its money

before the pandemic there were some pretty good deals on used Boss 302; these days the prices are crazy so personally I would wait until the bubble bursts, if it was my money

Having just bought one myself, do it. Money well spent. So much more fun than my 2013 V6 base w/ performance package. My butt loves the Recaros, my wallet will never be the same.

Re: the MT82: I'm a bit paranoid about this too, but it's actually been pretty rock solid so far (purchased with under 1600 miles on it, I'm up to 6300). I plan on swapping it for a Calimer stage 1 (maybe stage 2) eventually (heard nothing but praise about their work) if for no reason than to ease my mind.
