2011 Test Drives & Reviews since 3/29 ...

Yeah, definitely not state of the art engines.
I mean, a 3.7 V6 that makes 305 HP while getting 31 MPG, or a 5.0 V8 that makes OVER 412 HP while knocking back 26 miles for every gallon of gas on the highway, heck, nothing high tech or state of the art about that. Hell, all the auto makers are doing that...oh, wait, NO OTHER AUTO MAKER IS DOING THAT!!!
What a JACKASS! Tell him to go talk to the guys on the camaro forums, they should love him...

Yeah, I agree. Neil was trying a bit too hard to be clever, in my opinion. Also included in the article, a review of the 2011 Mustang, were jabs aimed at Sarah Palin and a kiss blown at Obama. It's pretty sad that politics have permeated virtually everything -- it would be nice to be able to get away from it every once in awhile.
But then again, a newspaper that is so focused on business that it doesn't have a sports page probably isn't much good on auto reviews.

Dan Neil used to write for the LA Times and is the only automotive journalist to receive a Pulitzer Prize. Maybe that's what it takes for an auto writer to get a Pulitzer, you have to sprinkle criticism of capitalists and free markets in your car reviews.

Truth be told, I still think the Challenger is the best looking of the bunch. If it wasn't such a pig I would've bought one instead of my '08. However, the SRT8 is a ringer, it really should be compared to its counterpart, the GT500. That's a bloodbath so I understand throwing it in with a GT and SS. Good article overall, 4 tenths is a pretty substantial margin. I'm impressed. If I didn't have so much $ invested in my '08 the 5.0 would be bullseye on my radar screen.

The v6 MotorTrend tested has the V6 Performance Package:
GT coupe suspension, 3.31 limited-slip differential (2.73 is std now), unique ESC tuning, strut-tower brace, & P255/40R19 summer-only tires.
And it's available on the base model!
