2011 Sterling Grey 5.0 - Stripe Colors

I know there are a bunch of threads out on the web about stripes, color choices, etc and I have read a bunch of them. I just bought my 2011 GT STG about 3 weeks ago and so far I've changed the fuel door to billet black, blacked out the rear deck GT emblem and also the 5.0 emblem on the sides. I also added Borla S-Types AB...loving the car so far. I'm definitely putting stripes on - just trying to decide the color. Next I'll move to headers, gears and eventually cams.

I also have a set of SVT series 2 I am putting on soon.

Here is my sled as it sits:

My interior is red if that matters much.

I think my favorite combo is to have some yellow on the car...just love it on the sterling grey but not sure if it is too wild for most.

I know the fighter jet inspired model also had yellow on grey and it looked badass to me.

The other color combo I like is red on grey:

Maybe not the lemans stripes...maybe a red RTR stripe on hood with rocker stripes on side.

I also like the black on grey but is is pretty common and I kinda want to be unique...it does look great though:

Opinions are welcomed and appreciated

Nix the yellow....way too much going on with a red interior. Red stripes might work, but that'd be an awful lot of red going combined with your 401A interior. A friend has a killer SGM GT500 with red stripes and it just screams of cool, but there's much less red in his Shelby interior as opposed to the amount of red on a GT Premium like yours. Perhaps a darker red stripe might look good instead of bright red.

Personally I prefer white stripes on SGM, and that might flow better with yours given the white stripe on the seats.

Btw, I like the wheels you've chosen.

Is it a clash of epic proportions to do a color accent on outside that does not match the inside?

How about red stripes with a black outline or vise versa. Similar to what you see on the GT350 or S550?

Go with red to match your interior.

+1 on red, considering your interior. You don't want to look like the coat Dolly Parton's mom made for her when she was a kid! How about a less intrusive style, like the "C" stripe on that GT, but in red? You get the accent you want without overdoing the red on gray. Maybe a few other touches, like red hood struts, etc.?

Ok you guys make sense. I'm glad I asked because I loved the yellow but don't want the first Dolly Parton edition Mustang.

I follow a bunch of really cool mustang instagrams and this is a grey/red that I love too. This is the RTR I think. Although Im not sure what he did with his lights to get them red or the half splitters (I think they're called that).

If you emulate a style (RTR, etc), can you mix? Meaning could I do a red RTR hood decal that's not too intrusive and maybe red C-stripes on side or rocker panels or is that going to get me a lot of strange looks?

I think that specific Hood stripe look really good on the 13-14s, personally I would go with that hood stripe, but the sides would have to be the boss hockey stick stripes, black or red is my opinion, both will contrast the car.

.
As last years cruise nights started on 30 April, I would hope 28 April will be the start this year.
...................( I have no conformation of this )
I have been taking advantage of the warmer than normal temps & getting both cars out for a trot.

I picked out and ordered my stripes.

Car will be garaged prior to having the vinyl place out them on. Ideally what should be done to the car (finish, wax, etc) prior to having them out on? Obviously super clean prior but anything else prior (protectant, BFWD, etc)?

Decided to go with red spears and RTR hood c stripe.

IMO, the best stripes = no stripes. Be different. Everyone has stripes on their Mustang these days it seems.

i wouldnt wax as it is might effect the proper adhesion of the strip, proper cleaning and ensuring of no dust is on the area where you are applying the stripe is good enough.
i may be wrong, experts here will correct it.
