2011 Mustang GT - how many got the Navi?

Just wondering, how many of you guys ordered the 2011 Mustang GT with the Navi? What are your impressions? I know it's a hefty upgrade ($2300 option in Canada) but the giant color screen with dual zone climate control seems very appealing so I ordered it, but not sure why no one else on these forums seem to have it?

Too expensive for what it is, and doesn't do enough more (if anything) than what the Sync with the Premium package, a $150 Magellan and a $199 Iphone can't do for you already.

I wished we could've ordered it with just a plain touchscreen and no nav and stuff we don't need.

Yeah, I ordered it because of the color touch screen, not because of the Navi. I'm used to my Garmin I'd probably still continue to use that. It just seems nice how with a color screen you can see everything you can say for SYNC, for example. Also, I got the rear video camera and preferred it not to be on my rear view mirror. Don't like the idea of a hard drive though - those things break easily - wonder if I can swap it out for an SSD. But then again it seems like I am one of the few who ordered it.

I would have ordered nav if I planned to keep the car longer than 3-4 years. I'm hoping the next iteration can tether to my phone and access the internet.

I bought the nav and absolutely love it. If you really want it, don't let others convince you otherwise. I almost didn't get it because people here had pretty much talked me out of it with so many having negative things to say about it. At the last minute I decided the hell with it, and ordered it with it. I'm VERY glad I did. The argument you're going to hear over and over is "it isn't worth the money". If you can afford it, and the cost is not an issue, then completely ignore that argument.

Thanks! Yeah, I ordered the navi package, just not sure if I should have because I noticed most photos of the interior online and most people on these forums don't seem to have it. Coming from a 2007 Civic Si, where the $2000 navi option was a piece of crap, I was hesitant at first but after sitting down with an F150 with a similar navi package I was convinced. Just wasn't sure why no one here went for it. Or it seemed..

I think it's a cool feature and I think you'll enjoy it. It might seem costly but it's built in and covered by the warranty, it's also got a fairly large screen. Hell, it's only money! Enjoy it!!!!

I ordered it but haven't got mine yet. Money wasn't really an issue since I had been looking at some much more expensive cars.

I'm not knocking others....but some folks just don't have the money to get what they want. There are many folks getting a base GT because that's all they can afford, so obviously a $2,300 option is just not on their radar.
If I decide to get a GT I'm loading it up!

Have it on mine, and wouldn't want to miss it... the tochscreen is very easy to read and functional. I had a new Magellan 7" navigation system at home, which I used in my truck, but I like the cleanliness of the interior. Nothing to stick on the windshield (except the radar detector)!

Love the dual A/C system as well, as my dearest is usually freezing, while I'm just getting comfy! LOL

Plus these things seem to be obsoleted every couple of years by something better, plus I can just use my Droid phone with GPS if I need to navigate somewhere

I decided that I could live without it. Have managed without until now.

It was must have for me. I have loved every minute of having it. I use it everyday too..

And search around bro, from what I've seen its about 50/50 if a '10+ owner has the NAV or not

I could of easily afforded it.
It's not a case of affording it or not for many.
It's a case of value per dollar.
And $2,300 for it is not "worth" it.

I bought my 2011 Mustang GT and 4 weeks later bought a new Honda Odyssey minivan for the family transport too
I got the Nav and such in the Odyssey because I got the full entertainment package for the kid and because the Honda will be my wife's primary car (we have a 3rd car as well).
For the child and wife the extra money was worth it and therefore an acceptable buy.

But again the point is, on the "play" car, $2,300 is not worth the price for what the $150 Magellan and my iphone does.
I don't need to see a display in color for my sync commands, that feature is not worth $2,000 more to me.

As another said, I'd rather spend it elsewhere even IF money was an issue. But it's not, it's just not a $2,300 worthy option for me. I can buy a new 17" Macbook Pro for that, and it will do for me a whole lot more than a 7" screen in my car will do.
It's purely dollar for value equation and it's not a winning equation in the Mustang. $1,000 and I'd of done it, that I could say would be an acceptable value per dollar equation to me for the Mustang.

Cheers

Its really just personal preference guys.

The argument that it does the same thing as my iphone and magellan doesn't fly either. A civic "does the same thing" as our Mustangs and they are more cost effective too. Sometimes its more important HOW someting works more than just WHAT it does.

And for me the $1700 or so for having a huge, customizable, integrated screen w/ movie listings, sports scores, nav, etc. was well worth it. I don't want suction cups and wire all over the place in my $30+k sports car

THAT! + Infinity. The simple fact of factory integration and overall cleanliness with the bonus of having all the features available from Sirius TravelLink is a win win win situation.
