2011+ mustang 5.0 skip shift

So who out there has a new 5.0 that's a 6spd that is having issues with this skip shift problem... For those that do not know its a solinoid that locks you out of 2nd gear when over a certain rpm to help increase "fuel efficiency"

If you have had this problem and have fixed it share with the rest of us... The only reason I know about this was because my friend has one that's giving him problems and asked me for his help, from what I know you can just disconnect the connector or get it tuned out..

What your thoughts??

If it's causing problems, take it to a dealer. I've driven my '11 GT 8,000+ miles and probably had to skip shift twice. It's caused me zero problems and I barely notice it's even there. BTW, you'll get more responses posting it in the 2010-2014 area of the forum - maybe a mod will move this?

helllo!
I just had an SCT tune installed to my car on monday, and so I also had the skipshift feature tuned out. I was really waiting for that to be done as it was totally annoying me. it forced me to go from 1st to 4th many times and mostly when I didn't want it.

I think tuning it out is a very good way to get rid of it and the SCT handheld thing also saves the stock settings...so you can always have it back if you want to.

Just unplug the harness from the solenoid .. problem resolved. A tune will void your warranty.

+2 on disconnecting the solenoid. You will still see the message , but no codes & no more 'Skip shift'

Hello FE4R,

Welcome to the forum! My name is Deysha from Ford Customer Service. If your friend is having concerns with his vehicle, I recommend he makes an appointment with his Ford dealer as soon as possible. If he needs further assistance, he can PM me.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I frequently ignore the 1 -> 4 message in the info center, and go right into 2nd, no problems. In fact, sometimes I have trouble getting it to go from 1st to 4th smoothly. Does the 2012 not have this solenoid lockout, or is something wrong with mine?

When i get the skip shift alert i hold the clutch longer than normal then shift to second. That is the only gear i have to do this with, the others are pretty smooth but as previously mentioned u can't be lazy with the shifts or it will get caught in between gears and grind
