in that first run the Camaro driver must have been asleep at the switch, second run was more of a real contest but the Mustang still walked away . . .

but the most amazing thing about this video, is they were racing on an active runway, had to pull off to the side so that plane could land!

Eh, why would it be fake? The automatic SS (L99) is down 26 HP from the manual version (LS3) and posts a time 2-3 tenths slower than the LS3 and with the '11 GT posting around 12.8, the L99 should be about 3-4 tenths behind it.

If it's an L99 going up against the mustang, then I'd say it seems a lot more legit.

Except in this case the competitors automatic is slower than the manual counterpart, which I'm sure Ford didn't mind.

However, it's a win no matter what.

 

Hmm Auto to auto....is it Ford's fault GM is short changing the Camaro auto guys ? Plus according to c5 the auto guys are supposed to be running the better times....

 

Manuals are in the lead for the Camaro. However, it's definitely GM's fault for shortchanging automatic owners.

I think this is the eighth of a mile race everyone has been talking about. They drivers are journalists taking turns in each car so there's no ringer. I cannot say what kind of prep Ford did on the Camaro.

Auto versus auto the Mustang will walk a Camaro by 3-5 car lengths based on trap speeds.

You won't see this video on C5 anytime soon.

I don't think Gov Motors wanted to short change folks but wanted to avoid a gas guzzler tax with autos.

An auto Mustang might be no kidding faster than a manual now.
