2011 grille < 2010 grille

The dark chrome galloping horse logo in the 2010 models is (in MY opinion) really slick!!

I didn't even notice it until I was snooping around a lot this weekend where three 2010 GTs were languishing in the July sunshine.

Is anyone else considering a grille swap? Is it possible to just get the emblem or does the whole grille have to come out?

If I had a 2010 I'd have gladly traded my grill pony for your 2011 grill pony. I never liked the dark chrome pony personally. It was unique, certainly, but in my mind it never stood out unless you looked at one up close. I much prefer the 2011 grill pony, but I can see why some would prefer the black one. I just thought I'd say I am really quite happy with my 2011 pony and not considering a swap, but enough of my useless reply.

here's another useless reply:

I like my dark chrome pony and I don't want to trade it either! I like the more subtle look . . . actually I'd prefer a billet grille with no pony at all . . . so maybe if I change grills someday I'll have a dark chrome pony for sale.

The only change was the color of the pony. Black in 2010, a much lighter shade in the 2011.

Was it difficult to remove/install? Still waiting for my car so I haven't had a chance to see how it's attached to the grille.

You can replace just the pony emblem.

I dislike the dark 2010 logo so much I had bought a broght chrome pony to replace it on my car (2011) and was very pleasantly suprised when I saw they lightend up the pony for 2011.

You couldnt even see him in the 2010's.
I like the 2011 lightened up pony more than the bright chrome one though

To quote Ricky Bobby: "With all due respect", I disagree that the 2010 grill (dark horse) is better. But that's what makes the hobby fun!

Aside from slab sides (and ever taller wheels to compensate), thing that marks the 2000s+ in auto design is "branding" (all cars in a company's line up sharing styling cues) and big blingy brand emblems on the noses of cars.

The Mustang galloping horse on the 2011 Mustang isn't unusually offensive but I love the idea of getting rid of one irritating piece of bling...which isn't my style.

****... I never thought I would own a car with 19" wheels!!

It's not so much branding as it is heritage, as the original Mustang in 1964 also had the pony in the grill, as did pretty much every other Mustang except for the Fox bodies (which had a blue oval in the grill instead of a pony, and that's really branding in my opinion). It's not really new as an idea, but sticking the corporate logo in the grill has sort of caught on I suppose. It's something we can take pride in, as it's a symbol with real heritage and history beyond a checkered corporate existence where the end game is that these people got your money. It's a symbol to be proud of, kind of like the American flag!

I thought the upgraded interior -did- have the pony, at least the bright chrome ones in the doors. At least that's what 401A has.

It's not a big deal to me one way or the other, but I prefer the dark chrome (2011) to the black chrome (2010).
