yes the quarter louvers were choped on, as ford as yet to deliver our 2011. Just like the roush dealers and roush had to do when the car was first released. this is a real 2010 Boss Shinoda i will post more info when the 2011 does come in that is acutally for sale. This was done just to let people know what our cars will look like for 2011 we will also have the hockey stick style stripe availavle.

I agree. The Shinoda stripe was horrible the first time, and those wheels, although nice, have nthing to do with the look of a Boss. It seems like they just slapped every scoop and tack on piece and called it a day rather than actually thinking about it for 5 minutes.

To many addons that any consumer can buy elsewhere... I would like to see an original styled hood or a modern remake that you produced... some tasteful one-offs made by you that only you sell or offer to other distributors, not 3D Carbon and Ford Racing parts.

I understand what you are saying and when we started out Larry had all his own parts and i was blasted to use more factory parts, so it would be more like it came from ford did it. So this year i use nearly all but a few factory parts and know i am getting flamed for doing this.

lol! It's a tough balancing act, I deal with it constantly in the Jeep Wrangler market.

What I've found that works is too give your potential customer a package that is a better starting block than the factory. Keep things clean & simple. Know your target customer. Use a nice mix of quality & value with factory & factory like upgrades (Ford Racing intake or S&B intake, Ford Racing exhaust or Borla exhaust -as you know, most aftermarket companies make parts for the factory). Things like hoods, wings and lower cladding have to be appealing to the masses unless your customer base can support a lower production number cost of materials...

I think everyone just likes the simplicity. I think the chrome and louvers just do not fit the body style.

Take blazeone's car, add Roush spoiler painted black and sell that. Offer the scoops as an add-on package but make them optional.

Since you asked:

I know that you have been using the graphics for some time now, but for me the graphics are way too far over the top. It shouldn't scream 'BOSS', even from 100' away (on both the sides and the hood). It's good to have a distinctive stripe pattern, but the huge lettering makes me think of Tommy Hilfiger. The 20" wheels also appear to be more about form than function. 19" dark colored wheels (black or gunmetal) would be better. Not a fan of the large hood scoop, but I understand that it's hard to work with the current hood bulge.

The web site (www.teamshinoda.com) not being updated since 2008 is inexcusable in this era though. Having just checked it out, if I had come across that site while shopping for information about the 2011, it would be an instant and permanent 'no sale' for me.

Best of luck with the car.

I agree with the statement above that simplicity is key. The headlight splitters, pedestal spoiler, louvers, hood scoop, massive stripes, 20" chrome wheels - they all seem way over the top for this car. Start with swapping out the stripes for the hockey stick version and ask yourself whether or not anything that goes on with double stick tape should actually be on the car. Function > Form.

Just my opinion, and thanks for asking!

Hey Shinoda...

Anyone can buy Boss stripes (see http://www.baltimorestreetmods.com/ ). How about a reflective monochrome treatment to set your product apart? Red on red, black on black; whatever it takes.

for the longest time i did not add anything to the car that was not functional and had trouble selling them with more power than our competitors. then i see every dealership hacking on boss stripes with scoops and call it a boss and they sell them. and no one here says anything. so i now add scoops and louvers and get creamed.

I can pull pics and forum comments to back my statements. but Saleen did the parnelli Jones car nearly a duplicate of our Stroker edition car and you guys just love it so what gives.

I just think the 2010+ bodystyle doesn't lend itself to add-ons. A lot of people here agree. In reality, a bunch of guys here have ordered/bought 2010+ Mustangs with the factory louvers/scoops/pedestal spoiler, that your car includes, so I'd bet they would like it. I think the the hockey stick stripes and some black wheels would do a LOT for the appearance of the car. Ford knows the Bullitt/Torq Thrust wheels are kinda played out; that's why they stopped putting them on in 2009. I think the Shelby CS69s would look good on this car.

I personally do not like the factory scoops/louvers/pedestal spoiler, so the addition of 20" black chrome wheels and "loud" stripes wouldn't make me like them any more. I did like your pre-2010 S197 car though.

My $0.02. And while your car isn't for me, I can't say how much I appreciate you guys coming on to the forums and asking our opinions. That right there is awesome. Same with Cervinis coming on here.

Like I said, I think blazeone's car is a great starting point. Black Torq Thrust style wheels (if you want to stay with them), Roush bodykit, your choice of Black Boss stripes. But then, your market is going to shrink significantly once the Ford Boss is released. And then I don't know how privy you would be to partnering with Roush (or vice versa for that matter).

Maybe you guys should be talking to Ford for a possible partnership on the upcoming Boss?

Dislikes:
  • Graphics (make optional) Some like graphics, some don't...
  • Stick-on scoops (try something like the '65 flat vent style w/ a modern twist )
  • Bullitt wheels on 2010+ S197s; 5 star wheels belong, it's just that the Bullitt wheel has had too long of a run.

Likes and Suggestions
  • The 450hp target is perfect (use simple bolt-on: intake, exhaust, possibly pulley and tune) try to produce the 450 @ the rear wheels (kinda like SLP ZL454)
  • Work with Ford Fleet ordering for Grabber Orange, Highland Green and other popular colors not offered for the current model year. (If possible, gives you a unique advantage over customers buying a standard car)
  • Use a body colored grille surround to go with the 3D Carbon headlight splitters. Call the Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters for a concept car cool wire mesh grille. (Roush & Ford are selling a ton of billet grilles, but a properly done wire mesh grille will surpass it in sales)
  • Use a GT/CS front or similar splitter that fixes the pork chop sideburns from the factory. (Will likely be used on the factory Boss)
  • Work with Xenon, 3D Carbon, Street Scenes or Cervini's to replace the rear valence/bumper and the dreaded diaper with something that fits with the factory lower cladding yet has integrated exhaust outlets. (use 05-09 S197 for inspiration)
  • Make the graphics optional and offer painted stripes/graphics that fit the 2010+ curves. (a nice blend of old and new without it being a tribute/clone -less is more)
  • Consider using SHR 1/4 windows (factory on the 2010 CJ). They are appealing but PIA to install for DIY.
  • Offer similar to (rumored) OE Recaros as an interior upgrade.
  • Try argent color wheels (or darker) that are clean/simple. I'm partial to the Saleen Heritage wheels or a Carroll Shelby CS56 style wheel... it seems many on the forum like a BMW like wheel in a darker tone -in any case, darker wheels are selling better in many markets.

Price packages starting as low as $5,999.95 (allows dealers to tack on $1,200-$1800 for install)
If your able to buy @ WD or lower, you should make a decent margin (exception is the special order paint fleet buys... those orders would need to be prepaid by the customer in groups of whatever Ford's minimums are.)

If you have questions, PM me for contact info.

It just looks like someone took a GT and crashed it into a vinyl decal printer on the way through a Ford parts warehouse.

The car modding business is getting lazy. Too many people slapping stuff together with off the shelf parts and calling it their own. Where's the innovation?
