Just as the title says....we 2010 owner's have a great car but everyone wants the 2011 5.0. I would have like to get one too but the 4.6 in this car is great just a little slower but still very capable.

Loyal Mustang II owners would take offense

At any rate, I prefer to think of us GT owners as curators of the "transition model" with a limited run of the last of the 4.6L engines. It is good there is much interest in the new 5.0L, but there is a reasonably healthy aftermarket for the 3-valves.

I have enjoyed the heck out of my 2010!

I'm getting a feeling of deja-vu.........I'm sure someone posted similar once before.

The 2010 is a perfectly fine Mustang. Sure the 2011+ is an awseome car, but I'd happily have a '10

Oh, and are the 5.0 SN95s any more "II" than the later 4.6s?

I would not consider it a Mustang II, since the 2010 is still running the 2005-09 drivetrain and the body of the 2011.
Since all are still S197's and the original Mustang II was the only Mustang without a V8 option I would just consider it a transition year.

I felt the same way when the '98 GT I ordered finally came in and the '99s hit a few months later.

I'd rather have a 2010...fyi...especially if it could have been gotten with BBP.

Saying that the 2010 is as the Mustang II was is just wrong. The Mustang II was an abomination, didn't deserve to have the Mustang name associated with it. It was just a glorified PINTO.

The 2010 Mustang is a very fine car in it's own right.

I disagree with the '10's being the next Mustang II. I had a M II and there is not comparison in the car or in the attitude of the motoring public. Back in the mid 70's it was about gas mileage. Gas shortage and a huge price increase change the public mind about cars; performance out economy in. I was different in that I waiting until the 302 came back out in '76. Even though the 302 was smog choked it was better than most cars on the road. Even the Corvette's big blocks were eliminated and the 350 detuned to aroun 175 hp.

Yes the '10 will be different because of the one year body and engine configuration, but the '73 Corvette was a one year body style and it is not considered an 'orphan' in the Corvette world. I don't believe the '10 will be either, different and in some people's minds more interesting and valuable..

Lets face it. The 5.0 is a beast of an engine, and one that many buyers will prefer. That will likely lower resale a little. But, with an older engine comes more aftermarket parts and reliability that comes from all the bugs being worked out. If the extra horsepower is something you are sad that you do not have, just save up for a supercharger. That would more than make up the difference. They might be a little expensive, but they are so fun.

The first Mustang was built off the Falcon. I loved my 1972 Pinto and i loved my 'new' 1976 Mustang II Its all just part of the 'Mustang Evolution'.

I love my car and wouldn't trade it for anything....well maybe for a few exotic's but the power of my car is more than enough for me. I can't drive it to its limits and until i can then there is no need for an upgrade.

I also think that in the long run the 2010's will be worth more because it was a one year production car with the looks of a 2011 and the engine of a 05-09(kinda)

Thats a really bad analogy. Mustang II was a reskinned Pinto. A 2010 Mustang is a reskinned 2009 Bullitt GT with a kick *** interior.

Yeah, it's nowhere near a mustang II. You might as well say the same thing about a 2011, same car, different motor.

Are people going to look down on the 5.4 Raptors now that they've all went to the 6.2 engine? I doubt it, but it's basically the same situation.

Definitely not a Mustang II of today. More like a transition vehicle. It was simply the first half of the refresh, and 2011 was the second.

My first car was a 75 Mach 1 nearly 30 years ago. Great car for the times. Sporty looking, very fuel efficient, and with a few mods, that little 2.8L V6 was entertaining. It was the right car at the right time (high fuel prices / fuel shortages). It was cheap to buy.

I don't think the 2010 will ever be considered as bad as the II's. The 2010 may walk in the shadow of the 2011, but it's better than the 2005-2009's that we love so much. And if it is purely power #'s that define the goodness of the Mustang, then it is so easy to mod or supercharge a '10 and make it a holy terror.

Well aren't sales of the 2011 vs the 2010 almost identical? give or take like 5%? I forget.

I wouldn't say it's a Mustang II. We 2010-ers are just a transitional year. And I don't really mind it.

I've had and enjoyed mine for just over a year and a half.
Just passed 25,000 miles actually...

Right. And the 4.6/5.0 is no different than the 289/302 back in the day - in that the 302 was a nice step up, but the 289 was tried and true and fun as hell too. I dig my "little" 281 V8!!

Actually, Mustang II was the FIRST Mustang with the 5.0 designation V8. So the 2011 may be more like the Mustang II since the 2011 RE-introduced the 5.0 badging.

And the original Mustang was a glorified Falcon.

I'm not a Mustang II fan, just pointing out its mostly just what angle you look at something from.
