Exclamation 2010 WILL Have the 5.0-liter

I have not been following this topic very closely, but It just so happens I was eating lunch today with a guy who works in the auto industry and a guy working in his division is helping develop the engine controllers for Ford's upcoming engines and I quote what he said: "I'm working on the Ford V8/V10 Engine Controller being developing for them. It will go in the 5.0 L & 5.4 L for the Mustang"

Take it for what its worth..........I thought I would share this!!

Enjoy the discussion and I'll find out more details ASAP.

BTW: The guy is a Mustang guy and currently drives a 2005 GT

I don't follow. Where does it mention 2010 will have the 5.0L? For what it's worth, I hope it does.

No offense, but your quote doesn't mention anything about the 2010 getting the 5.0. It just states that the person in question, is working on the engine controllers that are being developed for the 5.0 and 5.4 !

More than likely he means the 5.4 in 2010 and not the 5.0.

Yeah, the GT500...derpppp ... 5.4L

Yeah, that doesn't mean the 5.0 is going in the 2010.
It'll be READY in 2010 for the 2011

Oh okay, so in other words, he means the 5.4 for the 2010 GT500

However that quote does not say what model year Mustang the controller will go in.

Also, the V10 will go away once the Boss V8 is in production.

Guy's, I hope to find out more, but he indicated that these controllers are for the 2010 Model Years!! I have to assume that the 4.6 in the GT will be replaced with the 5.0-liter and the GT-500 will stay with the 5.4-liter.

How's about a engine controller for a V10 uber-Stang? That would be nice.

Well i guess put it to you this way...
He's designing it for the 5.0 whether a higher up decides to put the 4.6 in 2010 or the 5.0 in 2010...

I have a feeling the closer we get to Jan, and still no news on job1 for the 5.0...
that the 2010 will have the 4.6 as stated.

"that the 2010 will have the 4.6 as stated"? Wait a second. I thought that the forum thread stated that the 2010 Mustang GT will have a 400hp 5.0 engine with better fuel economy. Do you mean "the board" could be wrong? How can this be? Gee, they were wrong about the Bullitt's 400hp all aluminum engine with a 6-speed. I wonder what Ford really has in store for the 2010's design as well as its internals......................

This is nothing like the Bullitt issue. We know the 5.0L is coming the question has always been when it is coming. Originally the debut year for the engine was to be the 2011MY, but the debut date for the mill seems to be very, very early for a 2011MY debut and some insiders apparently began to get info stating that Ford might be fast tracking the engine just a little which would have it ready for 2010MY vehicles instead. Ultimately that plan was apparently nixed and, while the engine will still be ready at a very early date considering it's 2011MY debut it wont be debuting in cars before then. That is the story to the best of my recollection.

Yes because ALL decisions area ALWAYS set in stone....

I could tell you how many times things have changed on this car but of course you already know all that being 'in the know'

I just find it amusing to see how many people latch on to what they want to hear, not what actually makes sense or what will be found on the car when it hits the showrooms , that's all. I shouldn't ruin the fun as it is great entertainment. But it is safe to say that most will be pleased with the new Mustang and it will take another step forward (yet again). Anyone for some more guesses?
