Except for our Canadian members. The Ford CA website calls them Track Package I and II.

Do they actually change the calipers though? I thought it was just the pads that were different?

The order guide says they are dual piston front calipers, but does not say if they are different than the standard GT calipers, which are described as follows in the ordering book..."twin-piston aluminum calipers."

This is kinda an' old beef, but: Why are they offering this for manual trans owners only? Is there some reason why an automatic can't get upgraded brakes, wheels, gears, suspension, tuning? I'll just end up doing that all myself anyway. WTF.

This is just my opinion, but I suspect that the vast majority of people who want great handling want to be able to hold gears in cornering. That is much more easily accomplished with a manual transmission. I would guess that the vast majority of autocrossers & road racers have manual transmissions (I know I would). Also, most performance minded buyers typically choose a manual transmission for greater control and feedback when driving at the limit. Therefor, Ford likely didn't think there would be enough demand for automatics and the TrackPack.

Where my automatic really shines is at the dragstrip. Super consistent in a straight line, and I never miss a shift. I don't want the extra weight of bigger suspension pieces, bigger wheels and tires, and bigger brakes. I also appreciate the loose factory suspension which allows for better weight transfer at the dragstrip. The extra gearing would be great (3.73's, 4.10's, or 4.30's), but the rest of that stuff is best left to the corner carvers. The bigger wheels (19's) can be had on the automatic GT's (and you even get a strut tower brace included), but the summer tires are not available with the automatics from the factory.

I'd like to see Ford tailor an affordable factory available "drag pack" for the automatics to make for great bracket racers, while retaining street legal status (as opposed to the off-road only Cobra Jets). Bundle a few FRPP items together such as shorty headers, high flow cats/xpipe, 4.10 gears, GTA axle backs, premium fuel only tuning, slightly looser converter, lighter 17" wheels, real launch control (not that garbage "traction control" for dummies), etc. Make it available on Deluxe models with delete options for radio, a/c, and power nonsense to keep weight down. This should yield a mid to high 12 second 1/4 miler that's super consistent. Price the package around $2,500 if done at the factory.

If that's the case, Ford should have offered the Track Pack performance package in a lighter (Deluxe), less-optioned GT trim level for weight reduction and corresponding dynamic handling improvement. Something I don't think I'll ever understand nor want to.

That's my only problem with the track package. It just doesn't make any sense to only offer it on the Premium package cars. At least offer it on both, for those of us who care more about performance than any of the extra stuff that the Premium cars include, that just add more weight and money to the car.

Maybe for the same reason you can't get the glass roof with the stone interior?? Riddle me that!

I wouldn't imagine the uptake on auto track pack cars would be overly high.

It's just more money Ford's decided to pass on. I WOULD have paid the money for the pack....but since I can't, I'll just give the money to someone else.
