2010 mustang opinion
It seems that ford is trying to address the biggest gripes we have about the current car while warming over the sheet metal. People have complained about hard plastics, lack of features, and no 5.0. It seems that ford is addressing all of these in a new car. They are also updating the suspension. So it seems the only variable will be the exterior styling. I do believe it will be accepted initially, but not by all. Those that don't accept it will eventually come to embrace it as with the new edge style.
It may also open the door to all those fox body die hards when the 5.0 returns. We all have a tendency as current owners to resist change and accept that there may be a hotter car on the road. This will be the major hurdle for current owners and I think car sales will jump once the coyote motor is on board as a gt option/main motor combo. Thanks for reading my meanderings and feel free to post your thoughts.

Accepting it will all depend on how bad you do not want your a** kicked by the Camaro/Challenger. The 400 HP 5.0 will make it easier to accept the changes. Looks are only skin deep the heart of the beast is what will sell it.

Agree with Mach1. It seems Ford has once again listened to the core Mustang faithful and tried to address the major complaints about the '05. Great car that it is, it still left much room for improvement. The 10/11 upgrades should address the bulk of the existing complaints
Not that there still won't be some complaining - you can't please everyone - nor room for additional improvement. As Boomer said, hopefully the '14 will see even greater improvements...

Its funny, I remember 5 years ago when 300 hp in a gt was a pipe dream and 500 hp was the stuff of legends (the domain of vipers). How lucky we are to be having this discussion in light of the econobox craze. I look through my fathers photo album and look at the great cars he owned with envy. Then I look around again and realize how lucky we are today to have the great cars being offered today.

I think I'm just going to hang on to my 07 GT and start saving my pennies for a 2014 SVT model LOADED with every option under the sun and keep it 100% original FOREVER.
Nothin like a 50th ann. SVT (hopefully named "SVT Cobra") Mustang!

From the little I know about the 10' I like most of it. I'm glad Ford has addressed the interior quality, I love the design of the 05' but the materials seem no better than the 4th gen cars. This is probably the thing that I am going to find the most attractive, and the one true advantage Ford has on it's muscle car competition (until we get the 5.0). Ford should also capitalize on Sync and all the other high tech goodies the competition may not offer.
Though I am one who is competitive by nature and would rather that the Mustang is the king of the hill, I can accept a car that can at least compete with Chevy and Dodge. I'm thinking I'm only going to stick to SVT Mustangs from now on, I hate the idea of the guy next door having a faster Camaro or Challenger.
My wish is that the 14' car is something really different. I think I'm a minority here but I advocate Ford going away from the retro theme of the current 05-09 and now with the 10+ model. Though I loved the idea of a retro Mustang, now with competition ripping them off they should go in a new modern direction. As far as i'm concerned all they need to keep is the overall profile, chrome pony in front and tri-bar tail lights in back and it will always be a Mustang! Or is Ford must keep the retro theme, then they should borrow more heavily from the true muscle car years of the Mustang. I'm thinking the profile of 69-70 and a front end that resembles 71'! Now that would be a mean looking ride

Um... isn't the 5.0 not the old 5.0/302, but a bored and stroked 4.6? Definitely not the old pushrod Windsor. So it's not a "return", it's a reimagineering. Or at best, a reboot. Kinda like the new Trek movie.
Still... way cool if it happens!

Pipe dream I know, but it'd be neat to see, especially one of those 460 CID SBF Monsters.

Same here buddy, but I think I may just go with the GT model (unless the SVT is truely something special)! A 50th Anniversary is the car to have!!

Not having the new 5.0 in the 2010MY is a major blunder. Ford is going to have to put up with negative press for at least the next year. Same old engine, no IRS etc, etc,!
Ford knew the Camaro & Challenger were coming. If the 5.0 wasn't going to be ready in time, they should of had a back-up plan to increase the hp on 4.6L. I am not talking 15hp either. I am talking 40-50hp!

I've officially chosen to ignore any and all rumors and (dis)information and hope against hope that there's a **** good reason we haven't had so much as a peek under the hoods of these suckers.
