2010 to look more like 69/70

I wonder who their source is?

http://www.thechromepony.com/News-08-11-07.html

Article says the new Mustang will NOT look anything like the Guigiaro design, but more like the 69/70 models.

I'm skeptical that any particular model year was the styling target for the next car. I've heard people say that the current V6/GT most closely resmbles a 69-70 model, and then I've heard people claim that V6/GT doesn't, but the GT500 does. I don't see it in either case, but some seem convinced. Now its not either of those but the next model. If somebody gave a Yugo a shark nosed hood it would probably get a mention here too at this rate.

I see some cues in the current car that do look like a 69/70. BUT there are a lot of things missing like: hips, fast back, more aggressive front(and no not the GT500 front fascia), chrome, and bigger engines.

As far as the II reincarnation...history does repeat itself.

I always liked how in BAck to the Future II they made the "present" cars (1985) fly instead of building futuristic flying cars....but they did advertise the flying car retrofit....for like....$40,000....heck, Id do that!

It will be a little more aggressive but I think more so the names will be from 69/70...
Boss 429
Boss 302...maybe even Mach 1 and Twister...
I just want them to bring back "Black Jade"

69/70 were the "Trans Am" years with Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang
Maybe history will repeat?

That is the sexiest yet most muscular looking car ever built.

I would love to see a new Boss 429 (aluminum) to give the LS7 a run for it's money.

I hope the '09 facelift gets hips, just to give the current car a little flourish before the all new model.

The '69 really does have a real muscle car look. The agressive hooded front end is superb, so this could translate really well into the 2010.

Dare I say it, but I can see the body sufacing matching the Camaro concept, I hope it does as that car looks stunning. A modern interpretation of the shark-like '69 front end would look amazing.

Can't wait.

I thought the 2009MY was going to have a facelift & additional changes? Rumor has it, the facelift was moved up a year due to the arrival of the Challenger & Camaro.
Waiting till 2010MY is a mistake IMO. Heck, a complete re-design has been rumored to take place between 2012-2015, with the new platform. I've read that in at least three different publications.

I guess we will know soon enough. If there is going to be a facelift on the 2009MY, we should see it at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2008. Don't ya think?

Probably won't see it this soon, probably Jan09 for a Aprl-Sept 09 launch.
Jan08 probably see the 09 boss/mach1-ish SE(s)

I can't see the new redesign/platform debuting 2 years after the refresh.
maybe '014-'015... depending on the engines and how sucessful it is.

It would SUCK to high heaven if the 2010 refresh had the carry over motors and we have to wait till 2012-2013 to get a new engine to compete with the Camaro.

The newest news seems to be that they are working on a variant of the BOSS engine that is smaller than 5.8L but larger than 5.0 and will be in the mustang.

A'ha! I called that one a long time ago. No way would Ford go through the trouble of producing an entirely new V8 engine architecture and omit engines below 5.8L in displacement, in the long term anyway, from the lineup.
Can a brother get some credit here? Bueller?....Bueller?...anybody?

That said, the ideal would be for Ford to move to a plan where new engines debut during the last year of the old bodystyle instead of debuting a year or two after said new model does. This would help the old model sell out during it's last year of production with fewer rebates while also allowing the new driveline to have any potential bugs worked out without harming the image of the new model.

Lets just hope that Ford learned from their recent mistakes with the Ford 500 and Lincoln Zephyr. Both of those cars should of debuted with the 3.5L

Come on then.....where are the photoshops?

I wouldn't know where to start, other than with a picture '69 Boss or Mach 1 and a picture of the Camaro concept. Mix 'em together and you'd get what I'd call one seriously mean looking Mustang.

I can see it in my head and it looks awesome

(mind you, I also hear voices in my head but I try to ignore them )
