2009 May be the last run of Shelby's...
As you know Shelby does not stay with a manufacturer for more than a couple of model runs (Shelby Cobra withstanding).
As you can see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll_Shelby
Many of us know that our Ford dealer can install Ford Racing Parts such as Super Charger's, etc. But not all dealers can or will do this. Like those in my area for example.
And the fact that they mentioned it during the reveal last night made it apparent that adding direct customer access to Ford Super Packs at the dealership level before purchase, means Ford accomplishes the following:
Easier to comply with CAFE standards by not factory installing SuperChargers.
Increases sales of Ford Racing Parts. (Instead of losing it to 3rd parties)
Increases profits at dealershipis (sales & installations)
Is able to boast HP ratings of your new Mustang with dealer installed factory warranties.
Possibly set a standard, lower price for "Super Packs" based on additional horsepower.
It's actually a very smart move for Ford not to continue with Shelby as they can take in more financially. I'm sure they'll have all the options you can install at the dealership right in the 2010 brochures.
Thoughts?

It's already a done deal. I'd be curious to see how many Shelby GTs, GT500s, and GT500KRs have sold versus Ford Racing superchargers. I'm guessing Ford's making a killing off the sales of Shelby Mustangs.

Yep. Watch the fuel-sippers go up so Ford can produce high-horsepower cars. That's why the 5.0 won't be the standard engine in the GT even in 2011. The 4.6 will be standard because Ford knows they'll sell more and keep the average down.
I thought the 5.0L was suppose to get better gas mileage and more horsepower then the 4.6L?
hmm i never thought of that brad... but youre right. the 4.6 will be base and the 5.0 will be option. hm i wonder what it will be called. kinda like the challenger has a v6 then the RT is a 5.7 (or something), and the SRT is 6.1... well with the obviously our V6 will be a V6, our RT with be the GT, and our SRT being the GT500. what would the 5.0 be... i would just like it called 5.0 bring back the FOX body look. insted of GT put 5.0 (i think that would be cool).
I always thought this would be the best way to go,that way,the people that buy the '10 GT 4.6 won't feel like suckers if the 5.0L is at least a option for '11.Well,they may still feel like suckers, but at least they won't have a lame duck one year only GT,i guess time will tell.
Unless that isn't until the GDI 5.0, which isn't supposed to be out initially?
Brad, Its this just your speculation, or have you seen some info that suggests that the 4.6 will stick around and the 5.0 will be an option (probably not a cheap one)?
I really hope not, but it does make sense if ford were to do such a thing.
The 5.0 probably would only get better mileage b/c of the 6 spd trans.

When you check mark the 5.0 on the option list it comes with stripes and stickers logos that start with the letter B.

4.0L - 210hp (V6)
4.6L - 315hp (base V8
5.0L - 400hp (optional V8)
5.4L supercharged - 500hp (Shelby V8)
Seems like a line-up to me!
And it is reminiscent of SN-95 from 2003
3.8L - 195hp
4.6L - 260hp
4.6L - 305hp
4.6L supercharged - 390hp
