2007 GT500 or '11 GT
I was hell bent of getting an '11 GT but today driving by a local dealership i saw a 2007 Shelby GT500 with less then 200 miles on it. This got my attention none the less and is about the same price of a new GT give or take. What do you guys think should I look more into the shelby or stick with the '11 GT?

It all depends on what you want or plan on doing with the car. The 07-09 GT500s are good cars, but the 2010+ models, SVT and regular production, are such a significant improvement. If it was going to be a serious weekend racer that I build up for HP and TQ, the 07 GT500 with its bomb-proof engine would be perfect. But if it was something that I was going to drive everyday or use leisurely on the weekends, I would wait for the 2011 GT to hit the showroom. How much were they asking for?

It will replace my 03 gt as my DD. Only will be tracked a few weekends out of the year. The GT500 has 165 miles on it and they are asking 34,500.

i have been going through this in my mind as well. had a 98 gt vert. i will have my truck paid off this summer and be looking for a stang.
my thinking is this. in two years. the 5.0 as great as it is will be old news. if you have one you will enjoy it but it will be one of many. if you have a gt500. you will have something not a lot more exclusive. just think about how many gt500 you see comapared to gts?
However one note. make sure the tsb has been done on the 2007 gt500.

there is a service buliten on the trans input shaft. i dont know all the specifics but aparently on the 2007 gt500 they did not lube the input shaft on the tranny properly and it can cause faulure causing damage to the clutch and the trans has to be rebuilt. im sure some others know more than me. ive been out of stangs for several years.
they can give you a report to show what has been done to the car

Well um, at a dealer, with that low miles, at that price, you'd be crazy not to bite! That's a great price for a brand new GT500 if it has a warranty. I haven't seen them priced that low with those miles.

most dealers will give the carfax for free, just ask for it when you do a test drive. Then sign the contract and drive off. In two years be ahead on your payments and you can trade it in on a GT if you still want to.

Without a doubt go for the GT500. If your driving a 2003 GT, than the interior and everything will already be a huge improvement to what your used to. Plus RESALE value! GT500s are limited, per se.. and it will bring much more $ when you decide to get rid of it. Case in point, a 2003 SVT Cobra with say.. 20k miles right now will bring around 23,000 today. The same can not be said for a stock, dime a dozen regular 03 GT. Not to mention if you want to go aftermarket the 5.4v can handle quite a bit of HP.

I bought my 07 GT500 back in June of '07 - only had to pay 8 Grand over invoice. I'm thinking about replacing it with an 11 GT. The 07 500 is such a compromise. The interior is by Mattel, the suspension is dangerous and now it's just another used car. Go over to teamshelby.com and see how owners obsess over making the car right. I've never spent 60 grand on a car for the privilege of spending ten to thirty more to make it work. Think carefully - you may be disappointed. There's a reason they're going so cheap.
