If money isn't a big issue and you don't want to hassle with selling it yourself, it will be much simpler and easier to just trade it in. The dealer will most likely give you at least $2000-4000 less than what you could sell it for private party though. For a general idea of what trade-in and retail values are for your Mustang, use the KBB, NADA, and Edmunds websites to value your car. What you'll actually get for your car may vary a little or a lot from those values, but looking at those sites, plus Ebay auctions for similar cars that have ended, as well as what other people are advertising similar cars for will get you in the general ballpark for prices. If you have any modifications done to the 2006, you'll generally get mor emoney by returning the car to stock and selling the mods separately.

Probably 16-18K as a trade and 19-21K as a private party sale based on some websites and EBay. Estimates may variable depending on your area and time of year you sell.

Go to KBB.com and look up wholesale value, then add roughly $2000. Take the extra effort and fill out the evaluation form and be honest. For instance, there is no such thing as an excellent used car. Even with your car being MINT, there are probably some things that detract ever so slightly.
This will give you a good basis, but by no means does it guarantee you will get it. Your car is worth what someone will pay for it, not what other people are asking for theirs or what you see them listed for on Ebay(Buy it Now), AutoTrader or the like.
Good Luck!

I traded my 07 GT in for $17k on my GT500. Dead mint. Loaded. 16k miles. This was in August. Expect no more than $14k for your car. My car had the comfort package, premier trim package, and everything else.

I got 16.5 for my 07 as well, the only thing mine didn't come with was the nav system since it was an early MY07 car.
