1970/2010 mustang

with "topnotch"s hypothetical question of the rear fender scoop and the new headlight design it really seems that the new 2010 stangs will be a retro 1970s mustang what do yall think?

I doubt it. People keep looking for which of the original Mustang models the next new model is going to ape.....and the answer is all of them. Ford's design direction seems to go well beyond 'lets build a retro car that looks like a 70 model'. Think less New Beetle or Camaro and more along the lines of Porsche's 911 and you are going to be much closer to what this car is supposed to be. Just my opinion.

Stangs didn't have the quarter scoop in 1970, it was a '69 thing only.

It could be a 69 with a 70 front clip on it, or it could be a 70 with sidescoops added.

The sidescoops do not look exacty like the OEM 69 scoops, but it could just be the photo angle.

I could've sworn 70 had the scoops too. I knew the Boss' were sans scoops, but not the entire 70 fastback lineup.

I think it's a 70 with added scoops. I don't see the pony emblem near the quarter glass.

In 1969 the Boss 302 was scoop-less while the rest of the Mustang lineup had them. For 1970 the entire Mustang lineup went scoop-less with the sole exception being the 1970 model Shelby Mustangs which had the 1969 model year C scoops under their Shelby specific...well, scoops...because they were actually 1969 model year cars re-tagged by Shelby as 1970 models.
