1,918 2014 GTs with glass roofs (and other deluxe build sheet data)...

My "deluxe build sheet" arrived today...

I was a bit disappointed with the production numbers it contained. I knew I would not get a "1 of XXXX" value from the data, but there weren't a lot of production numbers on the sheet- especially considering it cost $46. I would have at least liked to have known how many Brick Red Interiors were ordered. On another deluxe build sheet posted on this forum earlier, it shows 26,105 GT Coupes were ordered with Charcoal Black Interior (so only 21.5% came with something other than Black).

Overall, I'm glad I ordered it- but I'm hoping in a few years Ford will sell the data to Marti Auto Works so I can get a true breakdown of how many Mustangs out there are exactly like mine. Its a shame, because Ford obviously has the data available (and it would just be a matter of having a computer crunch the numbers).

Nevertheless, here are the numbers according to what I received:
134,085 = Total 2014 Mustangs produced
40,798 = Total GT Coupes + Convertibles
33,247 = GT Coupes (although another sheet posted here shows 33,246... hmmm)
21,730 = GT Coupes with Premium Trim
5,226 = GT Coupes with Exterior: Sterling Grey Metallic
4,777 = GT Coupes with GT Track Pack
1,918 = GT Coupes with Glass Roof

Surprisingly, 5.7% of all 2014 GT Coupes were equipped with the glass roof (I would have guessed that to be a smaller number). I'm also somewhat surprised there were only 7,551 GT convertibles ordered in 2014.

Assuming an even distribution of glass roofs among the colors, there should be around 301 Sterling Grey Metallic GT Coupes out there with glass roofs. Since data from another sheet shows less than 1/4th of those would have been ordered with red interiors, there should be less than 75 cars with my color configuration. Then, considering only 14.3% of GT Coupes were ordered with the Track Pack (surprised the number is that low), it should be reasonable to assume my Mustang is around 1 of 10 ordered with:
GT Coupe Premium
Sterling Grey Metallic Exterior
401A Brick Red Interior
Glass Roof
Track Pack
(and that's without knowing the numbers for Comfort Package and Electronics Package).

Not that its vital to have a "1 of 1" or anything, but when I was filling out the order form, the dealer noted that would be a realistic possibility.

It would be great to see the numbers from others who have ordered the Deluxe Build Sheet. Post 'em if ya got 'em!

Thanks for those numbers. I am interested in this type of information as well.

I will say that from my experience. the 401a interior option seems pretty rare. When I was looking I looked online at what felt like thousands of mustangs and only saw a few 401a's. Thats why when I saw mine I jumped on it. I think the addition of the glass roof just make yours even more so.

With only ~2000 glass roof cars, I wonder if Ford will bother to make glass roof cars for the s550?

So here is the info I got on mine that is some what similar to yours...

2014 MUSTANG GT Coupe 33,246 out of that body style:

33,246 came with a 5.0L 4V TI-VCT V8 Engine.
20,672 came with 6-Speed Manual Transmission MT82.
12,267 came with the Comfort Package.
5,226 came with Sterling Gray Metallic exterior paint color.
4,777 came with the GT Track Package.
4,418 came with the rapid spec 401A.
1,918 came with the Glass Roof.

Got this from Ford Service for nothing...

Ingot Silver, Glass Roof, Recaros, Track Pack, Eletronics Pack, Backup Cam, All Weather Mats. That last item guarantees I have a 1/1 optioned car LOL

How can i find out how many of my car were built? My 401 brick red interior and reverse sensing dont seem all too common, especially on a black car.

Actually you can ask Deysha. That is how I got my numbers. All she needed was my VIN. PM her and see where it goes...

Just to clarify, the Deluxe Build sheet is not supposed to have a full breakdown of the production numbers for your VIN. It is literally supposed to come with the total production numbers like this:

134,085 Total 2014 Mustangs Produced
33,247 Mustang GT Coupes
665 Grabber Blue GT Coupes

If you would like the production numbers specific to your VIN, you’re welcome to PM me, or contact our CRC, xtc.inc. I’m happy to get them for you.

I understand that... but it seems the number of production numbers provided is rather random and designed to ensure the information will fit on a single page. My car came with a brick red interior (which I would assume makes for an interesting production number), but it didn't appear on the production statistics on my Deluxe Build Sheet. Just providing feedback as a customer.

Also, I am sure Ford's system could easily churn out a "1 of XXX" number at the bottom of the Deluxe Build Sheet (its pretty simple database info), and this is something that pretty much any customer would be interested in. So, it would make sense to make it a field in the form letter (especially if you are going to charge $46 for information people can apparently get for free through customer service).

Again- glad I ordered the Deluxe Build Sheet, but the the product could be made better at no cost to Ford.

For $46 is absolutely should contain a "your car is 1 of xxx in that configuration"

Hell, get me some of the information and I'll set something up for free!

Honestly, I'd pay $50 for an official document from Ford with that information, and I'm sure you'd sell more if it included that info.

Just an interesting note, if Ford only built 1,918 Glass Roof '14 GT's, then my car is rarer than the 1,964 '15 GT 50th Anniversary Limited Edition models. Now I have yet another reason to like my '14 GT better than a 2015.

My friend had a 13 glass roof V6 which he promptly changed to a solid roof.

Then sold it back to the same dealership.

Wait, what?!?!? That's certainly not an easy or cheap swap. Ford used very different roof structures between glass roof cars and regular coupes. Seems like your friend spent a lot of money to convert the car (probably a couple grand) just to unload it shortly thereafter.

Going to his house right now actually.
As far as I know, it was free??
The car came with the glass roof which he didn't want, so ford put the hardtop on.
I guess that's why all the hard tops have the black weather stripping on them. (His leaked I think?!)
Just needed the sheet metal, the dome light? And the head liner.

Yeah he kept the car for a year and then traded it for a 14 GT.

I can't imagine not wanting the glass roof (its one of my favorite features)- but to each his own!

I had the same thought...

Deysha was kind enough to provide additional statistics based upon my VIN number, and she indicated the "1 of XXX" is only provided for special edition cars (e.g., Boss 302, Shelby, etc.).

Here are some additional stats on my car (the red interior and Package 1 accessory are pretty low-order items). I'm pretty sure I have a 1 of 1 (or at most 2 or 3)- especially since I ordered the rear view camera, but did NOT order the rear sensors.
2014 MUSTANG GT Coupe 33,247 out of that body style:
20,673 came with 6-Speed Manual Transmission MT82.
5,226 came with Sterling Gray Metallic exterior paint color.
884 came with Brick Red/Cashmere interior.
33,247 came with a 5.0L 4V TI-VCT V8 Engine.
6,111 came with the Electronics Package w/Navigation.
29,776 came with the Tape Stripe Delete.
12,268 came with the Comfort Package.
4,778 came with the GT Track Package.
1,918 came with the Glass Roof.
4,405 came with the Rear Video Camera.
861 came with the V6/GT Coupe Accessory PKG1.
4,419 came with the rapid spec 401A.

I agree, the cost isn't worth what you get considering my dealer can give me that same info for free. If it had a "1 of XXX" number I would buy one asap. I guess I'll wait until a Marti report is available instead.

I wanted one because it has some novelty to it rather than actual statistics for my car. I got the car in all the advertising when the 13's came out. Deep Impact Blue, Track Pack, Recaros, 301A. I have all the advertising and brochures from then as well which to me is worth more than the build sheet since it's the car I bought plastered all over the media.
