I've worked at a Ford dealership for the past 11 years. I suspect that the $1,000 rebate will either 1) stay the same, or 2) be improved upon. Although, considering there is a short supply of '11 Mustangs nationwide, the rebate will likely stay put at $1,000. Ultimately, we'll now for sure this time tomorrow.

When I put in my order, August 6th, it was $500 and then it went to $1,000. It would be pretty crappy if it went away. I wrote to the dealer for an update. Told me 6-8 weeks and we are over that now with no vin number in sight.

It's getting ridiculous waiting on an order. I ordered on 9/10 and I don't have an ETA. I'm giving up waiting on ours and I'm going to let my salesman go find one at another dealer. I have a $750 VINCENT coupon that expires on 11/9 and I see no way that my order will be here before then.

There are basically 2 reasons; 1. the dealer did not have an allocation 2. The dealer is either too lazy or is not aware of the vehicle visibility site available to dealers. The last print out that I received from my dealer was 2 pages long. It lists everything from the day the order was received by Ford to the actual time it was delivered to the dealer. This information is available to every dealer. If you order a Mustang, your dealer CAN provide this information.

I ordered mine on August 6th as well. I received a VIN # within 2 weeks and it was built on 9/10. The ETA for delivery was 9/21, 9/25, and now 10/3. I called Ford Customer Service this morning and they stated that my car was delivered today and that I should call the dealership, but the my dealer says that they have not seen it. The dealer supposedly called the railhead and they have not seen it either. I was really hoping to get it today because (1) I want it and (2) I am afraid Ford will reduce the rebate. Now I fear that my car is lost somewhere in transit and I may never get it....

What's up with all these logistic mishaps?
The cars are mostly built on date, but Ford doesn't know where it is at times or it's just sitting on that mysterious Ramp 51.

Simple, some dealerships are crooked and some are not. When you order a car and then your dealership starts telling you "I don't know" and "We haven't heard anything" watch out. This is generally some dealership that has back burnered your order so they can fill their alotment with cars bound for the lot off of which they make more money. That's been my experience with Chrysler dealers anyway. When I ordered my Jeep Wrangler the story at the dealership never matched what Chrysler customer service was telling me and bascially what it boiled down to was that they waited two months before they even ordered my Jeep and lied about it the whole time.

According to the Ford website, incentive is now:
$1000
Promotional Retail Bonus Customer Cash 2
AND
APR Financing 3
1.9% for 36 months
2.9% for 48 months
3.9% for 60 months
5.9% for 72 months
I believe before it was a rebate OR financing deal. Expiration 1/3/2011

I think you are correct. Now it's the rebate and the low financing.

I've noticed through the years, when Ford was having cash back, rebates etc. on their cars in 'local' newspaper adds the Mustang would be excluded most of the time.

This was from the dealer today, good news (I think).
Your 2011 Mustang is in the process of being built. Current status is “sub to plant”. The VIN number is 1ZVBP8CF2B5157762. The $1000.00 bonus cash incentive program (11838) runs through Jan. 3rd 2011. You can contact me directly by e-mail for updates on the status (will change each week). When I get the dealership ETA date I will forward that to you. I am even able to track the unit by rail car across the country when it gets to that point.
