With both the F1-Indy and 24 Hours of Le Mans upon us this weekend I got to thinking, what race would I attend (with unlimited funds), if I had to choose just one.

I know the choice above may be limited so if you could attend a race not listed just choose 'other' and tell us . .

I would attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and next year I hope to actually go. A close second would be the F1-Monaco race . .

I voted for other, I am not sure if they still race the full track in competition, but I would like to go to see a race at nurburgring. Better yet I would like the chance to drive it one time, one lap, all the way around. Runnning the full track it is a 13.xx miles lap, has decent curves and plenty of long straight aways for ample time to get in some good full trottle runs. The germans really know how to build em.

Great choice!! I don't think any racing series uses the full track anymore (I know F1 doesn't), but I could be wrong. James might know a little better.

the only time they use full track is when the track has only been built at around 3 miles long.

On a side note, the Isle of Man TT races (motorcycles) has something called Mad Sunday, where members of the public can ride the "track". It is basically the road round the island, they close it for the whole week. 38 miles long!!!!!!! This year it was a stage in the Moto GP World Championsip.......6 lap race! I want to do that one day!

I picked Monaco, because it's freakin' Monaco, and you did say unlimited funds, which is pretty close to the truth for good seats. For this weekend, however, I picked the USGP at Indy, which is where I'll be in a couple days.

While the 13 mile track is good for road cars, the track condition is no good for F1 cars etc. Also, it makes it difficult for TV to get coverage of the whole curcuit, and as we all know, without the TV revenues, there would be no MAjor motor racing.

Yeah . . as I posted this thread I thought 'unlimited funds' would be needed for some of these races.

This is the first USGP I'm going to miss.

Well as the "Great Guru of Nascar Wisdom", I have to go with Daytona.

I have never been to any professional race in person (took a tour of the Indianapolis race track when i was 10).

My mom lives in Charlotte, used to live in Daytona, and I used to drive by the Rockingham and Darlington speedways when I was in college.

Probably haven't gone because I'm no fan of big crowds.

monaco or le mans of the ones listed but I don't know much about an Aussie V8 Supercar Race.

I've seen jet boat racing on TV and you're right they're crazy. It's fun to watch though.

edit: Sorry, found that the speeds are more than I thought.. 70-90mph.. the boats are capable of 0-80mph in just under 3seconds.

Found an awesome in-boat video!!

Like Joe Dirt would say: DANG!!!!

That video was amazing. That boat was just whipping around those corners like it was nothing. I wonder what kind of G's they're pulling.

Those things must have some serious power
