I'll be ordering my vista blue in march....I plan on doing white racing stripes, but i am dying to see some examples of what mine might look like.
Anyone planning on adding stripes to their VB?

Should also have my car in Nov-Dec. I too am planning on doing the racing stripes but something just crossed my mind. I've seen how bad hiney the almost totally black painted hood looks on the torch red; is there a color (maybe white or black) that we could do on the vista blue that might look good also? Thoughts?

Hey Brian, my car won't be here till March/April, but I am definitely getting it striped (getting painted ones). The car will be going to the body shop we use ASAP. I want the stripes done before I take it home. In terms of color, I am going with either Performance White, (95% sure) or Quick Silver (5%, something different looking, would go well with the light graphite leather). I can't wait to see a fellow forum member's VB GT with some stripes. Anyone have any photochop skills?

John,
Your car is the reason I'm getting VB, and the reason I'm painting stripes!

John's '05 Sonic with stripes is pretty close to what VB will look like.
Here's a picture with silver that I found on this site.

Nice choice of color guys!
I've been debating what color of stripes to put on my car. I was going to do silver, but I just can't get myself to do it. White looks awesome on blue; however I sold a '04 Mach 1 that was Azure Blue to get my '06, so I can't help but wonder how black stripes would look in the Vista. It would definetly be lower key than the white.
What are your thoughts??
Thanks.

Black look really good, very subtle, yet aggresive. Hey Tom, whichever color you go with, white, silver, or black, it is going to look AWESOME. Can't wait to see some pictures of your choice .

I'm gonna make some calls this week to begin getting qoutes for the paint job. In the meantime, I've got to get some parts coming so they can all be painted and put on at the same time (ducktail, louvers, etc.). I'm really torn between black or white- they're just so different that you'd think it would be an easy choice; not for me.
White looks so cool, but black would really blend with my windows. I'm also adding the GT300 side stripe kit; either in black or white to match the stripe paint.
And just in case anyone is wondering, I'm doing paint mainly because I want 12" or 13" stripes. I don't think you can get them that wide in vinyl. I've seen alot of vinyl kits that look good, but they're not what I want.
Thanks.

John,
Didn't mean to imply that I don't like your vinyl stripes.
I love your car. Seeing your car made me decide to get VB and put white stripes on.
Reason for paint, purely longevity.

Adrenalin,
Your car looks great!! I love the chin spoiler, deep-dish bullets and side skirts. I'm not a fan of hood scoops, and I prefer ducktail spoilers to wings, but ... I think your car looks terrific! great job!

Thanks, but you do know that I have a shaker and not a hood scoop, right?

Anyone know of a good site to purchase these vinyl stripes? Can anyone give me a cost comparison between the vinyl and paint?
My VB should be built today and hopefully out the door and on it's way.

I can't remember the names of the companies off the top of my head but here is a comparison.
Installed the stripes are running anywhere from $260.00 up to $600.00 depending on the material used and how it is installed. I have gone through a lot of detail in a post (somewhere) on how hard it is to stripe the car if the material is not already precut for the car.
Anyway, to paint I have seen prices from $800.00 to $3,000.00. In order to do the job right the glass, hood, trunk and bumpers should be removed from the car. Stripes painted on and then clear coat the entire area so you don't feel the line where the stripe is. The cheaper the price, the cheaper the job. If you don't mind having stripes painted on that you can feel and don't care about the paint cracking where the panels meet, go for the cheap job. My stripes are vinyl. My car has to get repainted so at that time the stripes will be painted on. I originally got a quote to have them painted (before the car got pummled with stones) I was told it would be around $2800.00 to get them painted. Keep in mind, that is a show car finish.
