Looking to remove my GT spoiler off my V6...
I am not looking for a permanent solution. But, I want to try the look without the spoiler on my V6. Removing it shouldn't be too hard...it's not the factory one, but I need ideas on semi-temporary plugs for the holes in the trunk lid. Any help?

Yay! Terlingua team! Haha and look around for silverskoundrel. He deleted his and I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you what he used (hopefully he didn't have them sealed up when he had paint and body work done)

Well I may have made a mistake...the trunk lid has been pretty damaged from when I took the original spoiler off over a year ago. the metal has small dents in it...ugh..
The spoiler I took off today came off without a problem.
I found plugs. However, their not water tight. I'm going to add silicone. I probably should have waited. Now, I'm thinking of asking a body shop of what it might cost to fix the holes and dents...ugh...not good timing.

When I took mine off, it was definitely a PITA and far from perfect afterwards. I used a ton of Goo Gone and fishing line/floss and ended up with a bunch of scratches underneath. Luckily I was just painting it, and not planning on leaving it off.
You can try http://bumperplugs.com/BPindex.html for plugs. Although I'm sure you can come up with a cheaper alternative with a little work.
Pics of the damage?

Taking that **** spoiler off, is one of the most frustrating things I've done to my car. There's just too much tape on it...I don't see how anyone can get it off without, at least, some damage.

I really don't have a lot of money right now to do the fix either. It's my daily driver, only car, so it's far from a show car. But, man I feel like I screwed up.

Look on the bright side - anything bad that happens to a mustang is an open door for improvement. Say you want to do a spoiler delete and the body shop has to do work to remove the dents... Just have them fill the holes. I know what you mean about needing money to do it but you can always wait! Just my .02

As it turns out I am not going out of town. But, here are some photos I just took of the trunk. The dents aren't showing up on camera...but maybe they aren't as bad as I thought.

Getting the factory spoiler off was tough. Then I used paint thinner and a plastic scraper to remove the rubber and goop. I used 7/16 inch plastic hole plugs after drilling out the holes to that dimension. I have a few wrinkles but no scratches. Even so it looks better than with the factory spoiler in my opinion.

Most of the time when removing double sided tape it's best to heat it up pretty good then just lift the spoiler off with some light pressure and cut carefully with a razor knife. As for removing the stick tape left on the car 3m rubber wheel on a drill and rubbing compound afterwards. Works just about every time!

When I removed my V6 spoiler a year ago, I struggled with the fishing line, and we used plastic chissels and a lot of brute force, which is what caused the dents....
I've decided to wait. They don't look terrible. I washed it today and I'll live with them for a bit til I can find a solution.
