Interior color with Tungsten?

Last evening, I took my wife for a test drive on a GT. Part of the purpose of the drive was also to choose our exterior color. Prior to arriving at the lot, I was sold on Alloy. My wife, however, hadn't seen Alloy in person and wasn't set on a choice. We ended up seeing GT's in Alloy and Tungsten (a Roush Stage 1, actually) and as a result, my wife thought Tungsten was a much nicer color. And I must admit, I was swayed, too, being able to see them in person, nearly side-by-side.

So now we're sold on Tungsten and will be ordering a GT in that color in about 6 weeks. While we have pretty well decided on Dark Charcoal for the interior (with the IUP), I was wondering what other interior colors you have in your Tungstens.

By the way, my wife said the coolest thing on the test drive. At one point, I offered to turn on the Shaker 500 so she could hear it. She said, "I know what a radio sounds like, I want to hear the engine!"

First off congrats on the choice to buy a Tungsten GT. Second I have the dark charcoal in mine and love it. I have seen others with the lighter grey interior and really didn't car for it, it's almost too much grey. I also saw one with the parchment interior this past weekend and it just looked odd. These are all my opinions of course and I'm not trying to knock what anyone else has. I don't know that I have seen any Tungsten's with the red interior but can imagine that I wouldn't like that. I say go with the dark charcoal.

Your thoughts are exactly in line with ours. We thought the graphite was just too much grey and that medium parchment just didn't match. But it's just our opinions and I'm betting that some other folks enjoy those combos.

And as for the congrats, I can't wait to get my hands on my new car. Late October can't come quickly enough...

You'll love it and trust me you won't regret the color choice either. I bought mine prior to hearing about Alloy and when I heard about another Grey I was like oh crap I bought the wrong color, but after seeing it, I know I made the right choice with Tungsten.

Interesting about going with red. The GT we drove had the red interior and I liked it. I could see that being an interesting choice with Tungsten, actually.

Looks like you've done some nice mods on your car and I do enjoy the great-looking pics you've posted of your car.

Red & Charcoal Interiors

I have also ordered a tungsten GT vert. I have attached some pics with red & charcoal interiors. I like the red but my wife thinks it is too much. I wanted a little more contrast in the interior so we have ordered it with the PTP black/dove.

As you may know, it is unclear what should be black and what should be dove (light grey) in the PTP black/dove package. The order guide says

PREMIER TRIM WITH COLOR ACCENT PACKAGE (68B)
Availability:
• Optional on V6 Premium and all GT arrays
Includes:
• Aluminum Pedal Covers
Chamois, Red, Black, Dove and Parchment sport bucket leather front and
rear seating surfaces with matching color front door trim inserts and floor
mats
• Dark Charcoal interior environment with Dark Charcoal carpet
• Satin aluminum-plated shift lever with automatic transmission or bright shift
**** with manual transmission
• Wrapped and stitched instrument panel brow, console lid, upgraded door
arm rests
NOTE: Requires 18G Interior Upgrade Pkg and GT leather seats (K)
Not available with:
• V6 Deluxe array (110A,150A)
• Not available with Cal Special or Pony Package (54C & 54P)

However, there are several documented cases with PTP arriving with black seats and grey interior. This is what the Sport Interior Packagae is supposed to be:

Sport Appearance Package w/color accent (incl. leather-wrapped steering wheel w/satin aluminum spokes, aluminum pedal covers, satin aluminum-plated shifter lever w/automatic or bright shift know w/manual transmission plus Black interior components (seats, carpet, mats, and front door panel inserts), Cloth or leather seats providing contrast in Graphite & Parchment Interiors)

Anyone have any pics of PTP or SAP with black/dove black/graphite would be appreciated!

The red package might be an interesting choice for a vert. Like you said, it provides quite a contrast with the top down.

Scott - do you have any pictures of the exterior of your car? I'd be interested to see what the stripes look like.

Thanks.

I ordered the light graphite with Interior Sport Appearance package, which adds additional black contrast in the carpets, floormats, door inserts and the seats. While I have yet to actually see one, Tres Wright (who I consider the resident 2007 interior color combination expert) and I think it will look like this...

I did not want the IUP because of the MyColor instrument cluster, so this is a less expensive way to get some additional color contrast. The top part of the dash remains black to offset with the lower part in grey.

I like the inserts idea with the graphite. However, I want the MyColor option along with the rest of the IUP. I do like the aluminum pedal covers in the ISAP though. I wish aluminum or billet pedals came with the IUP.

Cannonballer actually contacted Ford about this after receiving his car, he has been informed that Ford does indeed plan to continue with the black seats scheme for the parchment and dove PTP interiors. Here is the info he received:

So if you ordered black/ dove with PTP, it will look like the below pic.

Thanks, Scott! You're car looks awesome with the stripes. If you don't mind, I saved that picture to my hard drive and will use that as my desktop for awhile. It is indeed a great shot.

My wife's making noise about stripes some day, so I think the picture of your car will really help her visualize what ours might look like. I'm thinking a black stripe job like yours with the GT Appearance Package hood scoop will look really nice.

Thanks! Fell free to use the pic. I love it with black stripes. A bunch of people have done the silver stripe to look like the show car, but I am still in Gone in Sixty Seconds mode myself, so black it is. I will probably have the stripes painted on eventually, so that is when I will decide between hood scoop or replace the whole hood, too many options!

Ha - that's pretty funny about the "Gone in 60 Seconds" reference. My wife really likes the look of Eleanor and that's why she thinks Tungsten is the color for us. It's obviously not an exact match but it's the closest option available from the factory, in our opinion. That's also why I think if we do stripes, black is our color though I really like Donna's car with the silver stripes.

As for a scoop, we're going to get the GT Appearance Package so we'll get a scoop with that, along with rolled exhaust tips and the plenum cover. But if you do replace your hood or just get a scoop, you've got a ton of options.

Thanks again for the great photo of your car.
