2005 Ford Mustang S-197 Gen 1 Sonic Blue Mustang Convertible with Roll Bar

Hi All!

I'm new to the site and this group.

Hopefully a couple of you can indulge me... Curious - Anyone obtain a Marti Stat Report for their '05 and bounce those figures against that which is published on Mustang Heaven.com? While the numbers compare different production aspects of the car (Heaven's is based on a combination of interior color and convertible top color), the overall Sonic blue GT convertible production happens to be within three (3) units of one another on each report. However, the overall annual Mustang production cited between the two sources is dramatically different. I tend to put more stock in Marti's figures for obvious reasons, though Heaven's stats are credited based on Ford's own production information.

Also - anyone have a good (substantiated) date when 2005 Mustang convertible production actually started? The only thing I found on the 'net was Csaba Csere's (former editor - Car and Driver) visit to Flat Rock on Feb 14, 2005 when it was claimed the first Mustang production convertible rolled off the line. He was there to celebrate that event and award the new '05 GT convertible as one of C&D's 10-Best that year. I ask because I have seen some very low VIN sequential numbers on convertibles produced prior to Feb 2005 - door jamb stickers from January 2005 and December 2004 as examples. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! Doug

My ride is below.

Sonic blue looks great in natural light! Only 38k on the clock & I am the second owner since 2009.

Welcome and Nice Ride!

Sorry don't know any of the info you are asking for. I would expect the Marti Report is spot on and your best resource about the car. They get/buy their data direct from Ford, so it should be as good as Ford's record keeping at the time.

Thanks everyone! I would agree that Marti's data would prevail. In early 2005, I can remember the demand for the Interior Upgrade Package (IUP) was so strong that it exceeded Ford's expectations (anticipated to have a 60% take rate according to Ford's Order Guide). I also remember someone had sued Ford (unsuccessfully) claiming they invented the MyColor technology. I don't believe that action necessarily impacted production, but was interested in finding out what % of the build actually came equipped with the IUP? MyColor is fine and all, but the extra satin finishes on various surfaces and the contrasting dash panels make a difference (just my 2 cents). A buddy recently recommended Redbook. I read some mixed reviews - particularly from the Mustang contingent. Have any of you checked that out? Cheers! Doug.
