Cool

Actually, my lime gold 66 could have been considered a kind of a legend at Northport High School during the mid-seventies. We called her ‘Sally’. My best friend Allen used to sing that song in his R&B band, sometimes with a few modified lines about our escapades. Sally was the vehicle of choice (okay we didn’t have a choice most of the time) for long lunches or when we cut school to go to the beach. Not many of our friends had cars when we were 16, but I had her because I worked late nights after school and needed to get back and forth. She was great, and we had some great times. I remember racing Bob Hayhurst in his Impala and winning by a few seconds.

…That’s a story coming down from the past, but one that is verifiable.
A legend in my own mind?
Yes, but you can ask Tom Haynes or Boston - they were there.

Very nice! Any Mustang looks good in Legend Lime!

A question though. Is the "Lime Gold" color for next year going to be any different from Legend Lime, this year's color?
And how soon will we be able to see it?

Legend Lime is an alliterative term like Grabber Green, Tahoe Turquoise, L-L. G-G, T-T etc. etc. It doesn't mean anything per se. To my eye it looks a little grayer, and a little less green than the Lime Frost of old.

Yeah, I thought I wanted Legend Lime but had to see it in person first. I finally located one a couple weeks ago and and now there's no question, Legend Lime it will be, it's really stunning in person. Not at all similar to my first car, a '75 Maverick that truly was pea slime green. Man, I'm glad that car is distant history.

But as someone else above asked, I wonder how next year's Lime Gold will look like?
I'm just wondering if next years color will have more green in it? Or is it just a name change?

I had a 1967 Lime Gold 289 brand new in '67. THat was the official name of the color back then. It was a great car -- got me through college and grad school. Eventually needed something a little bigger and because I could not afford 2 cars I had to sell it, a decision I have regretted ever since. Legend Lime is very close to Lime Gold-- almost identical. When I saw the new one in person I ordered mine the same day. Waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Hope it cures all my years of longing for my old one. Of interest is the fact that many of the original Lime Gold cars that you would see around had "redline tires" with Magnum 500 wheels--A great look. So if you want the real retro look Legend Lime with aftermarket redlines is the way to go. Sorry for the long thread.
