I picked up a 2006 GT convertible 5-speed in triple black with only 18K miles last weekend. It's my 5th S197, so even though it's new to me, I'm very familiar with the car. Here's a rundown on my S197 history:

1) Got one of the first 2005 GT 5-speeds in the area. White and I added blue stripes. But I've grown up with GM cars, and this was my first Mustang. It felt so different than what I was used to in my 442s and other GM cars that I didn't think I liked it, so I sold it with 563 miles on it.

2) I decided to give the Mustang another chance and bought a 2007 GT 5-speed in silver. I modded it for open track driving, but it was totaled in a street accident.

3) The siren of the blower was calling my name, so I bought a black 2008 GT500 convertible. No dealer around here would do MSRP, so it came out of GA. The trucker promised to bring it straight from GA to MO, but instead went by way of FL, AL and TN. It was winter, and the rock salt and the trucker himself weren't kind to the car and it sustained damage. I sold it.

4) I found a black 2008 GT500 convertible with the Red Stripe package and really loved the look. It was a blast to drive, but when the 2010 Challenger came out in Plum Crazy, I had to have one. I've wanted a Challenger in that color for 3 decades, so I couldn't pass it up. Unfortunately, I had to sell the GT500 to be able to buy it.

I love the Challenger, and it's a keeper, but I still had Mustang fever. Plus, my partner said that if I bought the GT, she would learn how to drive a stick. The Challenger is too big and the GT500 was too scary, according to her. So in the end, we'll both get more enjoyment out of this GT convertible, and that's good. Now let the mods begin!
