Would you please explain the advantages of having a strut brace? How does it affect handling?

Dusty1, Firedragon,
My understanding is it stiffens up the front by minimizing flexing of the body between the front frame rails. By increasing the torsional rigidity (do I even have that term correct ?) the car handles better and perhaps the contact patch of the tire stays more consistent (the more area of the tire that meets the road the better). I've only driven with it installed for one day but I can tell a difference. When going hard into a turn, the outside front of my car used to dip a bit at which point I'd give it gas to straighten her out and bring her through the turn. If this is not the way to take a turn please correct me. Anyway, with the bar installed the outside front doesn't really dip as noticably and the car tracks better. Hope that helps

The intake cover WON'T fit under the FORD version. It WILL fit under the STEEDA versions.
Here's a link to that thread.
I think you'll be happy with the results should you get one.

I assume the vanity plate mounts are simply 6 welded ears off the struts themselves? If so, it would look nasty with the plate removed, but a simpler plate bolted or riveted on in it's place would look cleaner, IMO.
Anyone mind measuring the plate for me? I need something to do in the garage. I'm about to start tiling it and adding border paper to the 'nursery' if I can't find other things to keep me occupied until the 'baby' arrives.

Flexing of the strut towers, both fore/aft and side to side, causes unpredictable alignment and handling changes, lack of roll coupling, vibration and metal fatigue. The Strut Tower Brace keeps the strut towers from moving relative to each other, by providing a load path between the strut towers and between each strut tower and the firewall(this does not apply to the kits by Ford and Steeda as they are only from tower to tower not triangulated). This will prevent alignment from changing under braking and cornering, making the car more stable and predictable. In addition, the increase in rigidity from the strut tower brace will also reduce firewall and dashboard vibration, metal fatigue and noise.
I just got mine in from KC and he tells it like it is. It came just as he said in a somewhat smashed box.
That said it looked great and install took all of 5 minutes with proper tools.
Hes a great guy to get parts from. He will here from me soon.
Here is mine installed on my 2 week old 2006 GT.

Thanks again KC!

KC just got the tower brace and the 06 running pony badges. I've got my project for the weekend. It was a real pleasure dealing with someone that knows this car, knows the parts, and can give us advice on how to mod it the way we want it.
