Wife wants a convertible: T-bird?

Well, my wife just got a new job, and she is now making more money than me, but hey, its good for the both of us. She says she wants a convertable, but I'm not sure what to get her. I'm intrested in what you guys think a T-bird will do value wise as the time goes by. Will it become what the 57's are, or will it just keep going down in value like other cars do. I know they are pretty steep still....around 21K for a 2002.
At the same time, I dont want to get anything that I would be ashamed to drive...so no bug, miata, solstice, etc..and she doesnt want a SN95 mustang.

Here are my other choices:
s197 v6 mustang
TT roadster
Z3 (maybe)
eeh....sebring

I'm trying to convince her to get a Terminator vert for me instead

I'd rather get the T-bird, but I just cant seem to justify the cost, unless I can get a return on my investment someday.....all of these other verts are dime a dosen pretty much.

...and yes. I cant cruise around in a miata and feel cool at the same time. Solstice, maybe.

well, if you do go GM, the Sky is waay better looking than the Slo- er, Solstice IMO. Better yet, try to convince her to get one of those Cobra replicas!

I don't see them going up in value down the road, there just wasn't enough interest in them. Some one can corect me if I'm wrong, but I think they're on the Linclon platform, so not much of a sports car ride. Maybe that's OK for her though. Make her happy though, it'll be better for you in the long run. How bout a used vette?

Well I'm slightly bias, but BUY THE T-BIRD!! We've had 2 of the retro's. a Black 02 and a Merlot 04. We WILL HAVE another one. An awesome cruiser that will never ever be out of style. You have all the comfort of a Lincoln (it's the same car), and it is "Unique in all the World". Look for a good 03-04 for value. Remember the 02's had a different engine, even though they were 3.9's. Internal parts willl be more available in the years to come for the 03+ models. Oh, and 21 is not a bad price at all for a good used Bird.

well....here is something to think about. We live in Northern Indiana, meaning snow. And we cant really afford to have two fair weather cars, and two all weather cars. So I as I think about these things, I believe she will need (1.) front wheel drive....and (2.) nothing SUPER nice, because it will get driven year round and possibly get a lot of miles put on her.

I know...but I'm looking for a way out.....If I could find a TT quatro, it would be good (better) in the snow than the other rear drive two seaters....plus....Audis are known for going high milage, arent they?

First of all congrats on the sugar momma!

Now, unless your wife is over 50 and carries a little dog with her everywhere she goes don't get the t-bird. God knows I bleed Ford blue, but that is all I see driving around here in t-birds in Atlanta. (No offense to anyone but the wife and I were looking at them.)

Is there a used vert volvo in your price range.

I'm a fan of the bird. I'd love for my wife to have a torch red t-bird to park next my car. We looked at one, but it just wasn't practical knowing she was pregnant.
Too bad Jeep Wrangler's soft-tops are such a pain in the butt.
