Why not both??
With the cost of the new electrics and hybrids why cant we have both?
the cmax and the new all electric focus coming out just make me ask one thing.. why cant they make a full electric with a backup gas motor? something small(1 liter under 100 hp or even smaller)?? Hell why not just a generator to power up the battery as a backup?
+
think of it has a spare tire or something.

well, that's what the Volt's powerplant is. A full electric vehicle that uses gasoline as a generator only when the electric power is depleted, meaning that for your daily trip to work and back you'd never need gas, but unlike other electric vehicles, you can still go on road trips without running out. They're an absolutely brilliant car, but GM hasn't done a very good job at all of selling them.

I enjoy watching the Volt die. I revel in it.

I begged my sister in law to go look at one. Instead she got her third Altima in a row. I was like at least go drive it please. At the Nissan place she couldn't even find a salesperson to even help her. She has to practically tackle someone to sell her a car. But she still bought it. She doesn't like Fords. Wouldn't even look. Whatever.
