Amtrak hasn't struggled because it's government run, Amtrak has struggled becuase the government has done a crap job of running it. They're consistently underfunded and under-supported. "Government" rail can be quite successful, see French Rail. For that matter, see every single properly-run mass-transit agency in the USA, from Boston's T to Houston's Metro.

As I was referring to the US Government running things, you pretty much hit the nail on the head and proved my point. Thank you.

Metro, we've known each other for a while on here, but please tell me your not that stupid to think the DOE loan Ford got was a bailout?

IT WASN'T! Other manufacturers got loans for development of better more fuel efficent vehicles too. Tesla, Fisker, Nissan. Should I continue?

They have only used $884 million of the available $5.9B they were allotted and are already paying it back!! Please tell me how you see this as a bailout?

Most people do that when they are called on the carpet and facts are show that they are FLAT-OUT WRONG!!!!

I just get so steamed when people say Ford took a bailout, when they mention the DOE loan. Since I sell Ford vehicles, it hits me more than the average consumer. Some people are just so anti-Ford its comical and won't accept the truth, no matter how you gift-wrap it for them.
