Verve Sedan
maybe they will offer this as both a hatch and sedan much like toyota does with the yaris...
Not so fast there, Kimosabi.
Does it look good? Absolutely.
Would people buy it today? Definitely.
Here's the problem: The exterior looks 95% ready for prime-time just like it is now - yet Ford refers to it as a concept, which suggests to me that it will be significantly dumbed down. And by the time it arrives in dumbed down fashion two-and-a-half years from now, no one will care anymore anyway.
Ford needs that exact car in showrooms today.
The upside is that it does seem Ford is at least beginning to pay attention to what most North American consumers want. But can they deliver it...and in time?

They love that Aston-like lower grille....
Does look good though
THey may call it a concept..but look at the interior...
While crazy with colour, it looks like its production parts.
Completely doable..and hopefully will
(quoted from somewhere else...mulally hates concepts not brought to production)
Bring it Bi**es

I've already seen sans camo spy shot of the production version, and it looks pretty close to the concept. All the shots were taken here in the states, and even if it was the Euro model, there's no way the American model will get changed that much from the Euro one.

Well, only a blind person couldn't see that it has all the usual hallmarks of a watered down production car: from the tiny wheels and tires to the toned down front end grille, to the modified greenhouse, etc, etc.
Well we've already seen the sedan in China, I was hoping we'd see the 5 door here, they did change some things on the front clip/grill, and put all the red in the interior.
We should see that car with just smaller wheels (big wheels eat gas and power), a b-pillar, and not all that red in the interior, but God only knows how Ford will try to screw up our version. By the time this thing comes out gas prices may be over 5 bucks a gallon, they should offer it in 3, 4, and 5 doors to give people options, Autoblog is showing a pic of the 3 door in detroit, but there's only one of it which is kind of odd..
This tidbit from Farley has me wondering...
"The car will be in Europe a couple of years before it gets to the U.S. Farley says it's important the American consumer knows it's on the way."

So it'll be on the road in Europe for two whole years before we get it??? So what is that like 3 years away still? WTF?? It should be out this year.

This concept isn't exactly like the car that will be released in a few years, but it is a 70 to 90 percent accurate preview of what's coming.
Reading between the lines, that tells me everything I need to know, right there. That 10 to 30 percent (probably more like 30 percent) will make ALL the difference. On top of which, it won't be here for another three years.
I'm not sure Ford HAS three years to BEGIN the process of breaking into this market segment (never mind with a watered down version of what we see above). Hell, I don't know if Ford has three more years, PERIOD.
This company is moving at the speed of molasses...particularly when compared to GM.
