Looks to me like Mercury version of Ford Freestyle.

I don't get it. Ford almost canceled Freestyle because of low sales.
What's the point of Mercury's version?

They're banking on the crossover market growing. The Freestyle is getting a makeover and the 3.5L which ought to help sales. However, I agree with you on the point of a Mercury version.

I dunno, if they restyled it to be more CUV/SUV-like or to look more like a touring Wagon (as with the concept freestyle), I could see it. But this still has the small-wheels, bloated paneling Minivan look that makes me want to gag.

That is a pretty old picture. I believe a few months ago, Ford already pulled the plug on the Mercury version of the Freestyle. I remember seeing those shots on Blueovalnews.com back in June, just before the word came down that Mercury wasn't getting one.

Despite news to the contrary, we have seen a few Mercury versions of the Ford Freestyle around the Detroit area in the past week.
