Flash-forward to the Shelby Focus ST, based on the high-performance Ford Focus ST. It has been tuned to produce more than 300 hp while still getting up to 40 mpg, according to Shelby American. Handling has been improved from the stock Focus ST via Ford Racing suspension parts to lower the car, along with new wheels and tires for better grip. Shelby spec brakes provide the stopping power, while the Shelby/Borla exhaust gives the Focus ST a distinct sound.
Functional hood vents, hydro-carbon grille inserts front and rear, Shelby lettering and a rear hydro-carbon spoiler mark the exterior. Buyers can choose between three graphics packages -- traditional Shelby stripes, Shelby checkered-flag splash or competition graphics.
Inside, the car has a custom Shelby-branded interior with a Shelby shifter and Shelby CSM badge.
The Shelby package adds $14,995 to whatever you pay for a Ford Focus ST. Shelby American will limit production to 500 units per year.

According to the SVTUSA fan site, the Shelby package adds a stiffer Ford Racing suspension, larger brakes, custom wheels, a Borla exhaust, Shelby interior accouterments, and various exterior tweaks including functional hood vents.
But here's the kicker: the power output remains at the stock level of 252 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. SVTUSA says Shelby "is currently developing an optional performance tune expected to significantly increase horsepower." But it's not on this thing.

15K for springs, wheels, exhaust and badges? I would not want to pay over $40,000 for a focus. I wonder how much better than the ST the Shelby would actually be.

Well, Shelby is like sporty Germans - first you pay $10,000 for the name and then you pay for everything else ...

Me Gusta. But the price does seem a little steep for what you get. Hopefully some other aftermarket names get on board and offer tuning for the ST to unlock extra hp as well.

I'll give this one a big 'ol "meh."
If you want to spend $40k on a sporty car, just get a Mustang and modify it up. The Focus can be a cool, sporty little thing, but not for that much, and it'll never perform with something RWD.

IMHO I think it would look better without the side graphics. It would probably be a fun ride but I think it is also too expensive.

Get rid of the boy-racers graphics -- I'd fear breaking out in acne again should I drive a car looking like this -- but the mechanics look good.
