I think the tell-tale sign will be 2008 vs. 2007 sales (Month and YTD) to Ford's turnaround. I don't anticipate any monthly sales being equal or above to 2006 this year.

I agree....fords been trying to bring sales down to meet there demand, and it looks like they're doing just that.

The drop in cars is mostly due to the old Taurus being discontinued. Fusion and siblings continue to gain sales, though

Yeah I think the auto media's expecting too much too early this year. Sure, ideally Ford should have started sooner and be back in + side now, but given how they've dumped the old Taurus and it's fleet sales and have yet to introduce the Flex or new F150, I don't see the sales-slide stopping before Q4 2007 at the earliest.

Gaining sales? Hell, they're on fire! The Fusion is up 44.7%, the Milan is up 44.6% and the MKZ is up 12.7%!

Total Nissan North America sales were up 3.9% in March 07 over March 06.

Nissan brand sales were up 2.8%, but more importantly the much higher profit Infinity brand sales were up 12.6%.

I have not yet been able to find Murano sales for March 07, but I'm sure the Edge beat the Murano. The prior record sales month for the Murano was ~8,400 units while the Edge sold almost 11,000 in March. The MKX had sales >3,000 units in March which probably makes the MKX the leader in its market segment too !

That's an incredible sales # for the Murano.
March 06 was the previous top month for the Murano @ 8,787.
A 29% increase on a 4 year old product.
Ford better figure out how to make sure the Edge has legs like the Murano.

The $1,000 rebates they're offering on the Murano's might explain it.

I was disappointed to learn that the Edge didn't have the 3rd row seating like the Mazda CX-9. For me that would have made it more appealing.

I agree.

I would hate to own crossover or SUV that has less seating space than my Intrepid.

The Edge seats five. How many people can you stuff into your Intrepid?

I'm generally not an SUV/CUV guy, but CX-7 and Edge get my vote if I were in the market precisely becuase they "only" seat 5. Anything over 5 seats and you're in Minivan/E-series territory on the cool wall. It's like the GTs that can handle a full golf bag: they're just alittle too convenient, alittle too handy.

And I would have no interest in the Edge if it seated 7 and had a 3rd row seat. Although I am 18-24 months away from purchasing another vehicle (at the earliest) the Edge is one I would consider, but not if it seated 7 and had a 3rd row seat.
