I like the fact that Ford is retaining a 15% interest . . . according to the article.

I'm actually encouraged by this, despite the odd Auto Karma of having the French owning a British marque. Had another maker, or a former auto exec, bought AM they'd totally take it over. But this arrangement seems to favor Ford retaining alot of input in the platform developement and engineering of the brand. Hopefully they agree to leave Dr. Bez in place, he's got an AM mindset.

Best case scenario:
LV money and continued cooperation with Ford allows Aston to finally overcome it's power shortcomings with a new V8 and V12. The Rapide launches to rave reviews and a new Flagship to replace the Vanquish and defeat the 599 is launched in the afterglow.

Worst case scenario:
LV hires its own managers, squeezes out Ford and it's staff, spins its wheels developmentally, and brings in Paris Hilton as company Spokeswoman.

I shed a tear. So much to come from Aston. It's future was so bright. Just to be sold as soon as it became profitable, and to a girly store. At least we won't hear anymore interior quality remarks eh?

I doubt this buyout will much affect Aston's direction. Though I don't see what LV has to gain from acquiring a premium sportscar maker...
