I can't see the MKZ on the EUCD platform. It makes sense to keep it on the CD3/CD4 platform for now, and make the MKS the flagship, or even an MKR. There was talk about Lincoln spawning it's own performance brand too, for what it's worth. I think if they can produce a 3-series competitor, then taking the insight of SVT and the engines/weapons at their disposal, then they should go for it.
I largely agree. While some folks say that a Lincoln-based 3-Series competitor would be pointless I would suggest that a proper 3-Series competitor with some legitimate Lincoln flavor would be such a shocker it might see a lot of good press just based on heavy media attention.

That said, at this point we know that the CD3 platform is a 'dead man walkin' so to speak. Next major redesign for the Fusion and MKZ hits and CD3 is gone to be replaced by a revised take on EUCD, and for Fusion that is none too far away. Supposedly the MKZ replacement is going to arrive even further behind schedule than previously planned, but it is hard to imagine that MKZ will continue to ride a platform the Fusion is abandoning.

EUCD is also dead. CD4 replaces both CD3 and EUCD under the One Ford plan:

Yeah, but CD4 is effectively just a much improved EUCD. Or, then again, I could be completely surprised and be totally off base with that.

Easy mix for a (personal luxury) RWD Lincoln: Mustang platform, IRS, air springs, stretch the body about a foot more... done.

Call it a Mark IX or Zephyr - just don't call it a MK-something or other.
