Lincoln Is Considering an All-New Luxury Pickup
http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/10...kup-truck.html
With the current 2009-2011 Ford F-150 lineup topped by the pricey Platinum model, there still doesn’t appear to be room for a luxurious Lincoln half-ton, which is why Lincoln’s product planners are said to be looking further up the food chain to create a Lincoln version of the Ford F-Series Super Duty.
A Lincoln-badged Super Duty would likely be the most luxurious and expensive pickup in Ford’s truck lineup. The idea is said to be based on the three-quarter-ton F-250 with exterior sheet metal that would be significantly different from the current Super Duty. The interior would also be unique, highlighted by a stretched cab similar to the Ram 3500 Mega Cab configuration. Only a single-rear-wheel version of the truck would be available.

I will say this, being at the plant and on the launch team when the Blackwoody began, I drove more of these home at night and on the weekend than I see now on the roads around town. They were nice, but overpriced and underrated for market.

1st time = FAIL
2nd time = FAIL
3rd time? = enough already
IMO, the whole "luxo-truck" concept is stupid. If they insist on that foolishness, Lincoln should use the F350 chassis on up as the basis for some over-sized, over-priced, outrageous, blinged-out "premium truck" to scream out the message, "Hey, I got a lot of dollars, but no sense!"

Succeeded in Mexico, they love the MK LT down there. Just like the rest of Linc's line-up, the key is differentiating it from the F-series. Blackwood wasn't hugely distinct and nearly useless as a truck, MK LT was a very good truck but indistinct from a high-trim Ford. If they can bring something close to the Super Chief concept to production, I think it could work.

if i remember right, wasnt the point of the Platinum F150 to replace the Mark LT as the luxury pick up from Ford?? IMO, if their really gonna attempt this a 3rd time then i say better differentiate it from the F150. id like to see the 6.2 as the only engine available...actually id like to see a completely different truck that doesnt share anything visually with the F150 like the Blackwood and Mark LT did (doors, body, various panels, ect.), like the difference with the Flex and MKT for example. again thats jus my opinion IF they want to do this....AGAIN.

True, Navigator/Blackwood were based on the same platform as F-150, but they didn't share any design lines.
This new truck that Lincoln is considering should be based on a Super Chief concept.

I can see this making some kind of sense only in one eventuality (Q'Res and I discussed this the other day) If you were going to build what essentially amounts to a Mercedes G Wagon with a bed, and by this I mean a straight axle truck with air springs and an adjustable height suspension, a super luxurious interior with all the options, phenomenal off road capability, and a super quiet interior with a comfy ride (due largely to those air springs) then I get it.
In that case it really would be a sort of G Wagon or Range Rover with a bed. In fact, it might even be more faithful to the original Range Rover concept than the new Range Rovers are in every way but being a pickup rather than a wagon. Outside of that, I don't get it.
