It just didn't.

It didnt come with any of that
Just a block with heads and the timing chain and stuff attached.
Oil pump was included in a separate box and that was it.

When I bought a Ford remanufactured it came with the balancer and with a pan (oil pump installed). I just had to insert the dipstick tube (so it wouldn't be damaged in shipping). All the other stuff I had to add from the old engine though. Have you contacted the builder?

Harmonic balancers are pretty engine specific (like Bullitt is different from the GT) and should have been included IMO.

I have not. HBs are quite engine specific. But I did know when I ordered it exactly what the engine came with. I guess that's why it was cheaper than others. Lol

I dropped off the new wheels to get them powdercoated yesterday. After looking at the truck the last few weeks and the complete absence of any chrome or aluminum I've decided to change the wheels to all black. Actually a black textured powder coat. They were gloss black with a machined lip before. Of course they've been sitting in boxes for 2 years or more.

It's gonna look so badass. Like Seven's uncle or something. Them someday I'm thinking a professional flat white pant job or maybe just a wrap.

They might have one on the shelf for a few bucks. :dunno:

Said stock harmonic balancer. Notice the tone ring. It can be removed, but there is no where to put it on the other balancers.

More bad news today

I opened up the differential, for the first time, and found this...

This is finally starting to get on my nerves. I was never upset with the project till now. I know its not that big of a deal but I mean come on! Can anything just not be broken? How the hell did this thing ever run anyway?

TheDarkSide 7/29/12 10:36 AM

That is the great mystery of life Gary. I had an 86 Cutlass that I bought as a junker and drove it, figuring when it died I would mod it out. Well the thing would NOT die! So we started taking it apart to fit it with a big block and make it a quarter mile car, I could not believe how many components were broken.. just like your diff. The damndest thing it is.

Thanks to a Bronco forum I've tracked down a place in Cali that rebuilds harmonic balancers. Dampener doctor I believe it's called. Anyway a rebuilt one is on its way complete with tone ring. So that's hopefully resolved.

Now as for the rear end I'm getting some Ford 4.10 gears and a Detroit True Trac differential on order. I'm gonna remove the whole axle housing and take it to the guy that did the 4.10s in my Mustang to set it up. I don't think I'm ready to shim a pinion and a differential.

I smell 8 mpg.

btw, don't forget the front axle. Ratio's have to match.

Yeah I know

It'll be two wheel drive only for just a little while

2k7gtcs 7/30/12 06:34 PM

I'd like to find a way to stick a manual transfer case and shifter in there and take out the stupid push button thing.

2k7gtcs 7/30/12 06:39 PM

I'm afraid of what I'll find in the front differential.

Maybe I'll remove the front driveshaft so she doesn't put it in 4x4 on accident. I'll probably address that issue in a month or two.

Right... Or just put 3.73's back in the rear (I assume the front is 3.73. That's how my F150 is.).

You could take the fuse/relay out of whatever actuates when the button is pushed.
