Yeah but it's tested of course under full throttle, full boost to ever see those numbers. Want to guess what the mpg is at WOT to achieve those numbers? Ill take the 5.0 and be able to just drive it and not floor it to get any good power from it. And the 5.0 truck motor is pretty sorry stock but can be tweaked enough from just a tune.
And you're never gonna get that boat out the water flooring your truck.

If customer doesn't wanna buy a 3.5L - he would walk out and buy a Chevy, GMC, Ram or maybe even Toyota or Nissan. If that customer truly doesn't wanna a 3.5L, he's not gonna buy it.
You're in Wisconsin right? Or somewhere up north. Of course you people buy V6 trucks.

Well naturally the mpg goes down towing anything with anything. But max torque 420 @ 2500 would consume less fuel than the 5.0's 380 @ 4250rpm wouldn't it?

And few truck owners haul all the time so at least some of the time your getting ecoboost mileage, whereas with the 5.0 you never get better mileage.

That's one way I look at it. Though I want to see a few more years on those turbo's before I trust their longevity.

If you don't like it, you're welcome to walk across the street to the Chevy or Toyota dealer.

Yes but they are pumping that 420 tq over the 5.0 and better gas mileage too. Sounds great Mr. Salesman. 420tq at wot at 2900rpm then it falls off with 5mpg at the time. Towing a trailer on the highway at 2500 rpm with no boost and 1/4 throttle = turd.
My point is, it's great for people to haul bicycles and Christmas trees. Maybe a kitchen appliance or two. But for people who really need trucks, that ecoboost will disappoint some folks. If they are suckers enough to buy them.

I understand that. I haul firewood, lumber, maybe some hay on occasion throughout the year. But most of the year just the dog. lol So that's why I wonder about it.

Yet looking closer at the brochure, it says its only 1mpg better than the 5.0. So in reality, what's the point? Get the V8.

5.0 - 15 city/21 hwy/17 combined mpg
3.5 EB - 16 city/22 hwy/18 combined mpg

If they need a truck for that much heavy labor - they shouldn't be looking at the 1/2 truck to begin with.

Every other house here has a fishing boat. So 1/2 ton truck is all we really need. But a good trip to the fishing hole could be a strain on the ecoboost.

How do you think fishing boats are being towed in the rest of the world without the V8?

My buddy uses his 1998 Ford Ranger 2.3L to tow his 22 ft pontoon boat and he's been doing that for years without any issues. And now all of the sudden a 365 hp 420 lb ft torque F-150 is not good enough for that same job?

Nothing like the EB6 can be. IIRC, I've seen several stories about the EB picking up something like 125 hp and tq at the wheels with a tune and exhaust.

Wow...yall should go over to an F150 forum and read about how capable the ecoboost is. The stigma of needing a V8 in a work truck is dead.

The reason they need 4x4 is so you can do a boosted launch at the track in 4hi like they do in the diesel world! duh!

Granted I am a tad biased I chose the ecoboost over the 5.0 in my new F-150

There are people happily driving Raptors up here in the Pacific Northwest, where deserts and sand dunes are few an far between. If you've got the money and it makes you happy go for it.

Talking

I was wondering when someone would remember the Raptor. I am sure the Raptor could pull most boats out of the water, maybe even yachts.

The Tremor comes in the FX4 model as well.
