'Bout time. And one more step towards killing Mercury outright.

We leased a 2005 Freestyle for two years for a family car, replacing a Volvo 240 wagon. Pretty decent all-around vehicle, and the CVT seemed to make the most of the V6 and provided surprisingly adequate acceleration. We thought about buying it when the lease was up, but in the time we had it we only used the 3rd row seat 3 or 4 times to haul people, and decided to go with a smaller vehicle with a little more emphasis on the fun factor, ending up with our current 5-spd Subaru Forester XT. While I liked a lot of theingas about the Freestyle/Taurus X, with the current lineup of wagon-like vehicles in the Ford lineup, I just dont' see a place for it anymore. I'd sooner have a Flex now anyways of I had to choose between the two. At least the Flex has a decent towing capacity, IIRC our Freestyle was only rated to tow 1000 lbs.
