Obviously a police-duty Taurus. Anybody else think that upper and lower grill setup might add a menacing look to a Taurus SHO?

I wish it had a different front clip to better distinguish from Taurus. (I haven't seen the rear.)
I think the best parts are what 'ausrutherford' typed from the video . .

1. This is just one of two new PIs
2. The back was engineered to stand up to impacts of 75 mph.
3. Engine to suspension connections were enhanced to CV levels.
4. The suspension is tuned to handle 8 inch curbs at 40 mph with no damage.
5. Ford has racked up 1 million miles in testing.
6. In has already been tested by Police departments nationwide as well as the safety association that tests police vehicles.

That was my first thought too. I don't know about anywhere else but they have never used Taurus' for Cop Cars here in Tampa, or Florida that I know of. The only time i remember seeing a Taurus Cop Car was In Robo Cop.
Reading the autoblog comments got me worried about how successful these cars will be. FWD might be a turn off for cops. Ecoboost might be too complicated for their mechanics....
I'm also worried the taurus will get the cop car reputation and retail sales will drop.
Jsay? Tacbear? Zoran? Anybody got any predictions?
I predict Ford will lose a lot of market share to the RWD Chevy Caprice PPV.
Same here. pretty much exclusively crown vics.

I hope I never have to drive a Chevy PoPo car and the Dodge Chargers are not much better especially the glove box size trunk.
I think if Ford does their homework the Taurus could be a good PoPo car...I will take mine AWD and Twin Turbo!!
I'm driving a 2009 Tahoe Interceptor and I love it...so far. Handles great (for a truck), great brakes and will go 130+. We have had nothing but trouble with our 2007 Tahoes. Some of them shake so hard at 80+ mph that they are causing computer hard drive problems to our Panasonic Toughbooks, and Chevy can't seem to figure out the problem. I just hope the one I have holds up as good as my Expedition did (160,000+ miles NO Problems) and it wasn't a police package vehicle.

Turns out the problem was the spare tire had come loose and the car needed a wheel balance/alignment
Thanks for the input Tacbear! This is reassuring coming from someone in the field. I used to drive an early 2000's suburban for my job that would shake so bad I thought the thing would fall apart!

BMW has agreed to supply turbocharged diesel engines to Carbon Motors Corp. to power Carbon's purpose-built police cars.
In a deal signed on Monday, Carbon ordered more than 240,000 units of BMW's 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel--the same engine used in the X5. In the X5, the diesel is rated at 265 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque.
The deal calls for BMW to deliver the diesel engines complete with a cooling system, exhaust gas recirculation and an automatic transmission.
Carbon is developing the E7, a purpose-built patrol car that will be sold only to police agencies. The E7 is expected to launch in 2012, and the company says it currently has 12,500 reservations for cars. The company is based in Connersville, Ind., where it plans to build cars in a former Visteon plant.
According to the Carbon Web site, the E7 will use an aluminum spaceframe structure, will be built to survive a 75-mph rear impact and designed to last for 250,000 miles. It lists the performance targets at 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, a top speed of more than 150 mph and combined city/highway fuel economy of 28 to 30 mpg, which is where the BMW diesel comes in.
