Ford uses it's names on different vehicles as we know. I just thought I would show the "Same Name, Different Car" pics between Europe and the US. All model years are the same where possible.

First off the Fusion :

USA

UK

1997 Cougar (where I think the UK version is a lot better)

USA

UK

The Escort:

USA

UK

I think the only model that arrived here in RHD that is the same as the US version in the Ranger, even then, the engines are smaller over here.......

Hope you enjoyed this pointless topic!

James

The UK escort looks like the last generation USA one with a nose job.

You think an underpowered, 2 door Contour is better than a V8 RWD sports coupe with IRS. You are going to get crucified. We got that cougar here too you know? This could be the dumbest post ive ever seen.

Why thank you! You really should read a thread before coming out with smart remarks mate, look at the second post, I commented on the Cougar being available in the US....and I said this was a pointless thread, and I also was commenting on looks, not engineering..........

Who looks dumb now??

Andy,

The Fusion here is actually smaller than an Escort, so not really in the same league as a US Fusion!

Yeah, I noticed that. I just like the look of it. Very clean.

I love your response James! That was great

Back to topic.

Agreed, that UK Escort looks like the early 90's version with different "nose" ... My dad had a tracer for commuting, very similiar lines.

I also find it amusing the "Fusion's" have the same/similiar headlights.

How did i get owned? This is a dumb post. He took 3 random cars, who's dates of production don't even match up. Dumb.

Where does he say it's based on looks only? This is the quote "1997 Cougar (where I think the UK version is a lot better)"

IS a lot better. not LOOKS a lot better.

And in his final comment, he talks about engines? And it's ME that needs help with English?

He's just showing the difference between the vehicles man. And if you noticed he said
I think the UK version is a lot better
You know he's allowed to have his own opinion on what he thinks is better. Its not a personal attack on you.

you missed out the fact that I said "Same Name, different car" and then talked about a truck. God, I must be dumb.

Oh, the COugars are 1 year apart (they were released in 1997 here), the escorts are the same year, the fusions are as well. And, as a disclaimer, I beleive I stated that the years are the same where possible.

Now fella, leave this one here, can't we all be friends? I do believe it was you that attacked me first. I haven't even started to respond to being called dumb by a member I have never had dealings with yet

I bet James doesn't even smell color right!!! He must be stupid!

Also, its interesting to point out that the UK version of the Cougar has US styled plates, and the steering wheel on the left side. :P

Seriously, SVTJayC, I'd just settle down ... I thought the thread was fairly interesting for what it was. No one was attacking you on this. There may be people WHO DO prefer the newer Cougar to the older one. There opinion doesn't have to match yours to be valid.

It also doesn't make it a "stupid" post ... I've seen far stupider, and I've probably been guilty of posting a few that were too.

But, but, but ...

The plate, I say. Look at the license plate in the first picture!

Side note: What kinda of car gets into a car show with primer all over the fender? Look in the upper right.

that last pic was a ford show in the UK. The car is a Capri that is in theprocess of restoration.

Bugger, there is another comparison I could have used

Well now that explains it all. James were you painting that car? After all you did turn your garage door into Big Bird
