This is exactly what is wrong with the world today. The MOTHER f-d up and hurt her children and subsequently sues FORD to justify HER mistake. WHY WHY WHY do the courts continue to award dumb asses for their mistakes instead of letting them live with it ?
Same thing with the hot coffee spill in the lap, people need to be held accountable for their actions, not shuffle the blame to someone else.

Sorry, my rant is over.

This is what gets me:
Jesse's mother admitted that at the time of the crash that she had turned around to "argue with children in the rear set," and subsequently veered off the road. The children in the rear seats were not buckled up.
They need to stop giving stupid people money.... ugh!

I want to know how that judge could seriously not throw the case out, after the mother admitted to "turning around to argue with the kids" which made the vehicle veer off the road. and admitting that they weren't buckled up in the back seat. Plus, how can the jury not see that the mother is to blame for this happening. These people have to realize that these older SUV's are trucks, and handle like trucks, and to not think that they handle like sports cars. I drive a new Escape for a dealer demo, and I don't go around driving it like its my new Mustang GT. Two totally different cars, which have different limits on handling. This case is total BS!!

Anyone remember case from few years ago when some guy fell asleep while driving Expolorer? He crashed and he sued Ford ... and he won.

Um, aren't there seatbelt laws in the state that this happend in? Because if so, a decent lawyer should be able to have this woman's children removed from her custody. She's obviously not equipped to handle children or a motor vechile or both combined.

This makes me SO angry, it's not even funny. I couldn't imagine going ANYWHERE without my kids buckled up properly. Just goes to show you any idiot can reproduce, but that doesn't necessarily make them good parents.

Another person that can't own up to her own responsability.
It's crap like this that makes me really hate where this world is headed.
I have a solution for this but if i post it I'll be labled a maniac and probably get sued for having an opinion so I'll just keep it to myself.

how the hell did she win????
The first mistake the lady did was buying a freaking SUV to move her family around... eat up your **** pride and buy a minivan, which is safer and meant to carry a family around!
SUV's are supposed to be for people that need them for work, off-roading, safaris, and such. Not for driving around town like a freaking moron. They're big, and we have people like this lady driving these behemoths around town, not paying attention on the road. Theyre a danger to the people inside the SUV and the people around her.
I can't count all of the times there has been some freaking idiot in front of me in their bling bling SUV swerving, stalling traffic, or just plain cutting people off (get off that cell phone *****! Turn down that **** music! Turn your head back, get off the road, and discipline your children with the vehicle parked you **** soccer mom!). You drive an SUV, you better **** well be paying attention to the road. SUV's arent the easiest vehicles to maneuver around. Oh, and when these people get a freakin' tax cut for buying an SUV because they are "using it for work"... my *** you are using it for work.

Sorry, a bit off topic, but I just can't stand people that buy an SUV for what they aren't meant for and then drive it without out caution.

And for the people that drive SUV's for what they ARE meant for, or drive them cautiously, totally nothing against you. SUV's are needed, no doubt about it. They are not supposed to be in the hands of people like this lady.

Believe me guys. What comes around goes around. If this woman was this neglecting in driving with her children she is also neglectful at home. Hopefully she will be investigated by a children and youth service so the child can be placed in a safer home.

Obviously she can place a monetary value on her child. As a father this truly does sicken me.

I would hope so as well, but I truely doubt it. While to us it looks like the mother is a monkey right now, the media would twist it if Ford won the appeal and it would subsequently kill thier PR. I guess its worth it to them to settle and keep their image looking good. It is clear to us that the product is not the problem, but making a big deal would probally hurt them more than help.

If Ford does give in out of pitty that's stupid FORD then every Odd duck with a Frackin truck will follow this suite and if you let them set a pressident to it then we are all SCREWED No More Mustangs etc Common how can you accept responsibility even after these vehicles passed and met safty conditions !
Now if in an article it said this Mustang can really fly & I had someone not me drive it off a cliff and the defence would be , the article said it could fly ! so why would they lie ? I honestly don't see how & why stupid people can be rewarded ! Lordy Love A Duck.

Ford loses $15 million rollover lawsuit

The family of 18-year-old Tyler Moody — who died in the crash of a 1995 Explorer Sport — have been awarded $15 million in a federal lawsuit against Ford. Moody was trapped within the Explorer "and his neck was pushed into his chest by the intruding roof at a precipitous angle."

The parents and their lawyer say the Explorer's roof was unacceptably weak. Attorney Clark Brewster told the jury Monday that the roof of the Explorer collapsed during a "relatively slow, easy roll." He aid the roof's structure was made of "spindly little pieces of metal engineered down to an unacceptable level to save money."
An accident reconstruction expert says Moody was traveling at about 67 mph through a curve where the speed limit was 50 mph and the advised speed for the bend was 30 mph.
