One man located in Kansas City (Mission Hills/Prairie Village) waited 2 years for this $200,000 car.

He had this car only two days and had only put 9 miles on it.

He decided to try out how fast it would go- and decided to punch the gas pedal. When he did… he lost traction on the rear wheel and lost control on a bridge next to golf hole #17 at a major country club (Mission Hills Country Club) which crosses a small creek.

He nailed a steel and concrete pole.

I heard a story the other day that a guy showed up at Thunder Hill Raceway (it's a road course) here in northern California to try out his new GT-1. He decided that since he was going to be racing it around the track that he put in racing fuel with out any adjustments to the motor. After afew laps of the car backfiring the rear valence caught on fire and he pretty much trashed all the plastic on the rear of the car.

What a dumba#*! . You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that you don't just go and mat the gas pedal. Having driven a GT, the power SO immense, you cannot in good rational, stomp on it from a stand still. You'll end up just like this noodlehead . You have to go into 1st easy, and gradually increase speed. I sure hope he doesn't go and get another one, he doesn't deserve it. Poor GT .

It always seems to be the same type of story when one of these are totaled.

The guy is a complete idiot.

Just not fair, I heard that in order to buy one you have to be screened or selected? what requirements are there except for a lot of money

Our dealership just got one and these pictures are twice as depressing once you see one in person.

"A man has to know his limitations" -- Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry in Magnum Force

Common sense, restraint, and driving skills can always help, obviously the screener missed that one.

Getting to know the car gradually and recognize one's abilities is a must. There has been similar unfortunate accidents with the new Mustang GTs and we will likely see some GT500 become casualties as well. A performance car usually doesn't instantly grant the magic of talented driving to anyone, although I am sure a few around here will disagree.

I would suspect the Ford GT driver won't be showing off his baby at Starbucks any time soon.

I guess having a lot of money doesn't automatically mean you're smart, huh?

Reminds me of the story on MSN homepage this weekend of the guy in California, Pacfic coast highway,
That wrecked the Ferarri Enzo, and then claimed he was riding shotgun, not driving. while racing a Mercedes?
Guess on top of losing the car, which was cut into 2 pieces, he didn't want a ticket for street racing.
