Ford Focus RS development showcased documentary-style

The first episode, premiering September 30, appropriately starts at the beginning, and according to Ford, it includes Ken Block sliding around in an early prototype. Additional entries will come each week thereafter to highlight track tests, extreme weather trials, and more. For an early peek behind the curtain, the trailer above shows some of the highlights from the series, including a few seconds of Block behind the wheel.

If you've been trying to figure out how powerful the Ford Focus RS would be, you've had a rough couple of months. First, Ford teased us with the vague claim of "in excess of 315 horsepower." Then, the automaker revised that to 345 hp and 324 lb.-ft. of torque.
Scratch that. It's 350 horses and 350 lb.-ft., and that's the real, official number, says Ford.
Peak horsepower comes at 6,000 rpm, while the torque maxes out at 3,200 RPM. Redline is at 6,800.
That's significantly more than the 315 horses and 320 lb.-ft. present in the Mustang EcoBoost, which uses the same 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder as the Focus RS, albeit with different intake and exhaust systems.
We're almost certain that the Focus RS makes these max power numbers during a temporary "overboost" that increases boost pressure for a set period of timewhen Ford released the UK-market Focus RS's numbers, it noted a transient overboost feature. We've asked Ford to clarify whether this is the case with the US-market car, and will update once we've heard back.
Either way, with a claimed 0-60 time under 4.7 seconds, a six-speed manual as the only available transmission, and a rumored base price just under $36,000, this is a vehicle we're definitely anxious to try for ourselves.
