"Ford teases new concept car among other Frankfurt debuts"

Hey guys, I've been an avid Mustang lover for years. Been lurking around on the forums now for a couple months, just never made an account. Have a 2010 Mustang GT Premium Sterling Grey 5 Spd. Anyway, was checking some auto news sites and came across this on Autoblog.

Ford Press Release:
Ford at 2011 Frankfurt Show

• Ford design concept and Focus performance news announced at eve-of-show media event on Ford's stand on September 12

• Ford to demonstrate latest technology in a new outdoor driving space adjacent to an extended stand designed to increase visitor participation

BRENTWOOD, Essex, 3 August 2011 – Ford Motor Company is planning four global product reveals at September's Frankfurt show, including a major new design concept and details of the next Focus performance car.

Media are invited onto Ford's stand for an eve-of-show preview of the Blue Oval's news, delivered by European chairman and CEO Stephen Odell. He will be joined by J Mays, design group vice president and chief creative officer, and Derrick Kuzak, global product development group vice president.

The reveals will all take place on an expanded 3,200 sq. m stand – Ford's largest ever at Frankfurt. Just outside will be a 2,800 sq. m track where visitors can take part in Ford's 'Drive Experience', testing out innovations such as Active City Stop and Active Park Assist.

"Ford plans to make a strong statement at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with several very exciting global product reveals and our significantly expanded show stand," said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. "We're excited to be showing customers our best-ever vehicle line-up and a special glimpse of the future."

The Ford stand will be located in Hall 9 (see plan below) and, for media already planning on visiting the show, an invitation to Ford's pre-event on September 12 and RSVP details are attached.

What do you guys think? I'm thinking (hoping), that this could be a concept car with similar style and hints/cues towards the nextstang. Or possibly even a blatant nextstang mustang concept! I think either way whatever this concept could be or look like, will give us some insight into what the next Mustang will look like .

A coupe? Maybe. A Mustang? I'd be very, very suprised.

I originally thought that anything related to the 2015 model, would at the absolute earliest, be coming out 3rd qtr next year. I'm more hoping than anything and would be surprised as well, if this was anything related to the Mustang. Although I'm trying to stay very optimistic we'll get some news about it this year! Figured I'd post this, as personally, I'm here on the Next Generation forum quite frequently trying to absorb any news or new posts that might mean anything haha. Just now I'll be able to join in

I'll say that I doubt it's a Mustang. But there is one question, didn't Ford want to go global with the Mustang?

No doubt Ford will bring the '15 to Europe (that's another story, as most if us are happy to personally import them in LHD......adds to the "exotic" factor).

However, Frankfurt just isn't the right place to launch it.....it needs to be launched in the US.

Reallllly doubt it's a Mustang. Concept Capri, Fusion/Mondeo, or something totally new more likely.

I agree that Frankfurt is not the place they would reveal a Mustang concept. If it were up to me I'd only release it at Detroit.

Lately the Mustang has seen more light in LA than Detroit. I think the '13 might show up there. Frankfurt is not a place for this Mustang to show. Just doesn't seem right.

Yeah, you're right. Even though I hold LA barely above NY. The Mustang has seen a lot of show time in LA. I was just thinking that's what I would do but I certainly don't make those decisions. Besides, like you've said before, we have a while before the 2015 shows it's face anyway.

Maybe another 'super car', something to compete with against the Corvette and up coming new Viper.

I don't think I could afford the ADM, much less the car itself.

Could they possibly be unveiling a Lincoln coupe concept? I remember rumblings around here of Lincoln pulling an Audi by building their own 2 seat coupe.

That looks nothing like a Mustang; it's a cartoon Cobra Daytona or Viper GTS with a Fiesta grille.
