Ford to cut production, idle 10 plants

Here's the story. It's painful but I suppose necessary.

It is and it is.

Sadly, wall street has been beating Ford over the head for not announcing it's plans, now that it has they haven't given them any kind of props for it.

I doubt there will be any. I believe most of the plants affected produced trucks and SUVs.

Yeah, its mostly Trucks and SUV, but it also include some slow selling cars (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car, 500, Montego, Freestyle).

I thought the Freestyle would've done much better than it did. When it first came out I checked it out and liked what I saw...although I didn't buy one.

You just don't see them out on the road...not here in Toronto anyway.

I though it would've had good market timing for peeps who didn't want to buy an SUV (the current trend) or mini-Van anymore but still needed a peep hauler.

It's a great vehicle - but the styling is too bland to win people over from the imports. You can't convince people your quality is "just as good" overnight, but you CAN convince them on style (or not) IMMEDIATELY.

That's not entirely true.

On the bright side, Ford sold almost twice more Freestyles than Dodge did Magnums.

Strangely enough I have been seeing a heck of a lot more Freestyles the last few months. It's like one day there are nearly zero and the next they are all over.

I totally agree. As soon as I saw the Freestyle, I thought to myself "styling too bland, it's not going to attract people in".
