It's great to say that in a marketing blurb, but from some of the posts I read around here, I really wonder how true it is. Fields seems to emphasize the public's perception of Ford's poor quality, almost as though it has ALWAYS been merely a customer perception problem and not an ACTUAL problem. I heard a hint of disdain in his voice, and it's troubling.

I guess only time will tell. But that's also part of the problem. Many customers will wait to see if Ford quality really does improve over the long haul...but Ford doesn't have that long.

I dunno, he said pretty outright that there are many people who, "for one reason or another, had a bad experience in the past." And then he says "we have much more reliable products than we've had in the past". That all sounds like a pretty straightforward acknowledgment of their previously shoddy quality record.
