Here's the link to the story. Could the new Crown Vic replacement be developed Down Under?

After GM's problems with the Monaro, I'm hesitant to say its likely. UNlike the Moanro-GTO rebading, a successful import of the Falcon should involve a serious reskin (to the current Ford 427-style) and drivetrain flexibility (just one V8 won't do, Hybrid at elast is a must)

The difference here is that GM imported an existing vehicle not specifically designed for the US market. Ford is planning on developing new vehicles in Australia that will be sold around the world, including the US.

Holden - GM,, rebadges alot of cars as Chevrolet in the middle east, here we had the Holden Monaro rebadged as Chevrolet Lumina before you guys got it as a Pontiac GTO, they also export there Holden Statesman sedan to the Middle East as the Chevrolet Caprice (all left-hand drive of course) we also used to get a back wheel drive impala when the American Impala became front wheel.

But unfortunately we don't get Fords form Australia, we get the American and some british/european Fords but no Australian versions,, It would be nice to have the falcon here.

It's very encouraging. I'd say we're alot closer to seeing a RWD V-8 configuration that will eventually replace the Crown Vic. I can't see Ford domestically doing a brand new RWD platform with this stuff going on. We all drool over the Falcon now, if made even better AND left drive capable, they'd be crazy to not start bringing them in.

Very cool.

Oh my God that is the funniest thing I've heard all day. It's funny because I always try to insult the GTO by calling it a Lumina with a bigger engine. It's great that they, themselves, also call it a Lumina.
